Water doesn't enter ice tray.
You will want to pull the icemaker out and see if the fill tube is frozen. If frozen you will need to clear the ice and replace water valve. If the tube is clear you will have to cycle the icemaker and do a voltage test on the water valve. Check to see if you have 120 vac to the water valve when the unit calls for water. If you do and no water goes through then you need a new water valve and if there is no power then you would need a new icemaker.
Where does the water go into the ice maker and what sends it to the ice maker
When you pull the icemaker out there is a tube coming in from the back of the unit that fills the icemaker. Check to make sure that the fill tube is not frozen. Also check the icemaker to make sure that the pins in the center of the large gear are not broken. If fill tube is frozen then you will want to replace the water valve which is located on the back of the unit behind the panel on the back. If the gear is broken then you would need to replace the ice module.
My ice maker suddenly quit. Where do I start? Should I replace the icemaker?
Answer Hello John. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. How Do you cycle the ice maker?
Answer Hello Anthony,
To advance this icemaker you will pull the front cover off and useing a small flat blade screwdriver turn the small wheel counter clockwise. Once it has be turned a little the unit should continue on its own.
When the ice maker cycles and runs water in the water keeps running. What do I need to replace?
Answer Hello Cattle,
The water valve is the most likely cause but it could possibly have stuck contacts in the icemaker control head. You could disconnect water valve harness and check to see if the water stops. If it does not then you would need to replace the valve.
Our ice maker is making ice, but overflows into the bottom of the freezer. What are the possible causes?
Answer Hello Jerry. If the unit is overflowing, you will need to order and replace the water valve 218832401 on the unit.
Water not going to the ice maker threw the tube but goes to the door.
Answer Hello David. Check and see if the fill tube is frozen and clogged on the unit. If so, thaw it out and replace the water valve on the unit. If the fill tube is not frozen, You will cycle the icemaker and test for power at the water valve. If there is power there, and no water, replace the water valve. If the icemaker does not cycle, replace the icemaker on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
