The ice maker is making ice but is unable to dispense the ice into the bucket, leaving ice in the tray. Seems as though the motor isn't strong enough to push the ice. Is it possible to replace the gear drive on ice maker AP3160597?

Answer Hello Chuck, This sounds like the mold heater on your ice maker has failed or the contacts in the ice maker head have burned beyond electrical contact. A new ice maker assembly will take care of the situation.

I am having trouble with the water flow into the icemaker. It worked for a while. I have misplaced the instructions on how to turn the screw for the water flow and for how long it should flow. I do that and have to turn it back off to stop the water flow and then no water comes back when that dumps.

Answer Hi Cps. The screw corresponds to small hole in the front of the module. It has a brass metal tab with a hole punched out in the middle. The factory sets the screw adjustment so the hole is in the middle. This gives the proper 7 seconds of water fill = 113-151 cc, 4-5 0z. Rotate the side screw 180° counterclockwise puts the "hole" to the Left outer edge. I remember it as "left -let's in"... Then turning the screw clockwise 180° allows the hole to go to the rt. side as "Rt. - restricts". Any further in either direction will over flow or break the internal module parts. I have always adjusted to the rt. so the cubes are a little smaller so they come out of the chute easier and not clump up. Thank You.

I need to remove the icemaker and although I've now taken out 4 screws, it seems there is still another screw that needs to come out, but I can't see it to get a screw driver on it. I want to remove it before I order the new replacement from you. I also tried pulling on the wiring cable, but it seems to not want to come loose. Help me! I removed the plastic front that shows the gears, do I need to remove that part too to get at the screw that's holding me up? I hate to call the repairman again, he already charged me $300 for two valves that didn't solve my ice making problem.

Answer Hello Bob, There are only three screws that hold the icemaker in place. If you look at the parts explosion, you can see where the two go in the top. The third is in the bottom. All three thread into the freezer wall in the same direction. You can see the one on the bottom when you move the ice bin. The other two are above the ice mold, item 60 is the number for the screw on the illustration and the line coming out of the back side of it shows where it is located.

My icemaker wasn't getting water. The tube in the back that feeds water into the icemaker kept freezing up. The repairman installed a new regulator valve. It worked for a month, then stopped working. He then installed another new one, said the other was defective, no warranty. It now started freezing again, but I've been pulling out the tube and thawing it out with a hair dryer. Now it will freeze up after one day. The icemaker goes through the motions with the arm moving up and down, but no water comes in. Two new valves and a bunch of $$, I'm going to install a new icemaker. Can you tell me which part number I need to order? If you need a serial number, tell me where to find it, because I can't seem to locate it.

Answer Hello Old rider. You need to check the temperature in the freezer and see if it is around 0°. If it is colder than 0°, it will cause the issues you are having. It is best for the temperature inside the freezer to be 0 to 4 °. You can test this with a multi-meter with temp TJMA-DMT3. Overflow leaking order water inlet valve, still leaking in the ice tray with the cubes, overflows a little bit then stops. Now I order the ice maker # 5303918277 as instructed by your parts department. Can you please forward me instructions as to how to install the ice maker? I would appreciate it. Answer Hi Nannette. Ice maker part #5303918277 comes with instructions. Replacement Ice maker - By Frigidaire. Fits most Frigidaire, Gibson, White Westinghouse and Kelvinator refrigerator models. Cord has four round female connectors, comes with an adapter that will convert it to three round female and one round male connectors. This is a replacement part only and is not used for brand new installations. Remove power. Remove the ice bin. Remove the lower front screw mount. Loosen the 2- top screws. ( Phillips or 1/4" screws). Lift the ice maker off the mounts. Then disconnect the electrical connector. Match the # of terminals compared from the original ice maker. Use the adapter cord if needed. Then reverse installation. Before tightening the mount screws completely, use a level and level the ice maker so cubes will be filled level. Then make sure the bail arm is down. Once the ice maker thermostat is satisfied below 12-14°, then it will allow water valve to fill the ice maker. Thank You.

I have had problems with my ice maker slowing down production for the past several months and now has stopped completely. Door water still works. I have checked the input lines and nothing is frozen or clogged. I measured the Ohms at the water inlet valves and am reading approx 200 on ice maker, and 300 on main and door water. With those readings, is the problem likely to be my water valve, my ice maker, or both? Unit is 7 years old.

Answer Hello Craig. Test for power coming to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If there is power there, and no water, replace the water valve. If there is no power there, you will need to replace the icemaker 5303918277. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Answer Jean, you will need to use a Frigidaire kit for your unit to guarantee the parts fit and there are no issues. For an add on icemaker kit you will need to use part number IM115. However, you have already installed this kit and need a replacement icemaker only you will need to use part number 5303918277. Thanks!
