I just want to make sure that this handle will fit the Frigidaire FRT18KD4A. If so, does it come with all the screws or other parts needed to attach it to the door? Thanks.
Answer Hello! Yes, the door handle 218428121 is the correct replacement for your model. It comes with the block, however, it does not include any screws. For the refrigerator door top portion and freezer door bottom portion screws use part number 240383406 and for the screw to mount the block use part number 215503203. Each screw comes one per package. Thanks!
Hi! Do you have stainless handles for this refrigerator? Want to match my other appliances. Thanks!
Answer Hello Trisha! Unfortunately, the manufacture does not offer the handles 218428121 in a stainless option. Sorry about that!
One of us is confused - probably me, but you don't seem either to be answering my question at all, or answering it in a manner that makes sense to me. I know that the handle will fit over the screw/dovetail assembly, but the screw CAME OUT of the refrigerator door completely when the handle broke off. How do I re-insert the screw back into the refrigerator door prior to installing new door handle? When I try to screw it back in, the screw/dovetail combination seem too large for the hole and it doesn't want to stay in there securely.
Answer Jane, I was afraid, that's what you were saying. If the hole in the fridge door panel is too large for the screw to tighten properly, you will need to replace the door panel 240450401 . You may want to go to the local hardware store, with the screw, and puchase a "molly" or "anchor" of similar size, it may give you time, before you need to purcahsed the door assembly, it has worked for others, in the past. Sorry for the misunderstanding, Good Luck and Thanks
Back to my previous question, both the screw and the dovetail came out of the refrigerator door. I've tried to reinsert, but the dovetail prevents the screw from setting back into the door firmly. Please advise.
Answer Hi Jane. If you are referring to the whitish gray dovetail inset that sets into the handle an d is tightened down w/ a screw then it should slide and snap into the handle area. You can use blue loctite to secure the screw down. This should allow the handle to be positioned correctly and then you can screw in the bottom L- part of the handle. Part # [Hi Jerry. Remove the lint tray and the 2 screws under it. Then use a putty knife to push in on the front panel top clips. Under the front of the top panel, approx. 3" in from the corners are clips needing to be released as you lift up on one side at a time. Then support the top assy. Open the door and remove the 2 screws in the upper lt. corner to dismount the switch. Then use a small screwdriver or careful w/ a pick tool to unclasp the switch molex connector. Part # 218428121. Thank You.
How do I attach this handle?
Answer Hi Pam. At the top of the door, there are screws that need to be removed. Then you will pull out and down to release the lower handle from the inner clip. The door handle is part # 218428121. Reassemble in reverse instructions. Thank you.
