In your answer to my previous question you advised checking the Defrost Heater and then the Defrost Control. Will you tell me the proper part numbers for each? Do the come with install instructions?
Answer Eyeonu2, the defrost control is part number 5303918476. This item is located in the control box housing in the refrigerator section. The defrost heater is part number 5303918255. This item is located behind the rear wall in the freezer section. Unfortunately, the parts do not include installation instructions. You may click on the part number given in this passage, it will take you to the parts information online. We have several posted installation instructions online under the posted answers. If you need any assistance, please let us know. Thanks.
There is a loud grinding noise originating in the freezer compartment. It occurs regularly these days twice a day lasting sometimes for hours. During these episodes the freezer looses cooling and defrosting occurs. Thought it was the ice maker because the noise seemed to be triggered when it dumps ice, but it works fine. Any ideas what could be causing the noise? Please help.
You will want to check to make sure that the noise is emanating from the freezer and not the refrigerator section. If the noise is coming from the freezer and the it is making the noise about every 8 to 12 hours then you will want to check the defrost heater to make sure that it is not shorting out. If the noise is coming from the refrigerator compartment and is happening about the same time frame then it sounds like it would be a faulty defrost control.
Ice dispenser is not working. I changed the motor still not working. Could it be the solenoid
Answer Hello Mike,
If you do not hear the motor trying to turn then you should check to make sure that the ice lever is making contact with the switch. If it is not then you have a problem with the lever. Also if it is just cubed ice that will not come through then check to make sure that the solenoid is in the down position.
Fridge only dispenses crushed ice, no matter if cubed or crushed is selected. Water out works fine, is this solenoid the most likely problem? Thanks
Answer Hi Robert. Remove the ice bin. Clean the entire ice bin and the crusher blades at the front. Make sure the control rod (brass colored) on the bottom of the ice bin move freely. Dry the entire bin and blades with paper towels and a hair dryer. With the door switch taped shut, keep the door open and select crush at the fountain control board. Push in the ice paddle and see if the crush solenoid part # 241675803 is stuck open or shut. It should cycle up and down as selected. Make sure it receives the 120 vac at the solenoid when selected. I would use a volt/ohm meter part # TJMA-DM1 to assist. you in your diagnosis. Thank You.
Good afternoon, My ice dispenser is currently not working on my fridgidaire fridge. I have belive that I have located the problem (part number (AP3965453). The diagram of the solenoid shows a box and a pin that appears to be connected to it but mine is in two pieces. My question: is this solenoid magnetic?
Answer Hi Chris. The solenoid part # 241675701 is the ice crusher / cube solenoid. It is magnetic and when you choose crush, it lifts up the #13 so when the the ice passes by it it will hold the cube against the cutter blades until all the ice desired is finished. Is the chute flapper not opening when you desire cubes (common) ? If so then you need the chute damper motor part # 241689301. Make sure the ice bin does not over flow and the bottom of the bin is always clear of ice build up stopping the auger motor from turning.. Take it out and completely dry it. Align the rear of the auger so it aligns with the auger motor upon reinstalling or the door will not close all the way and get undesired results. Thank You.
