Both the right front dual element and the left front double element seem to have lost thermostat control. They do work but the temperature control is not useable. For example, you can completely burn an egg on a setting of 1.5 on the left front burner but on the right setting of 5 may only warm the pan. The same setting does not repeatably produce the same heat on either burner. Is the thermostat integrated into the heating element requiring replacement of the whole element or is there a way to replace only the thermostat?

After examining the dual element I found the ceramic rod which runs to the center of the element has a riser thing on the end this riser was broken not connected to the element and fell off with no force. First what is this part of the element? And would it cause the center element to not turn on which is my main problem?
