I have a rear left buner on a Tapan cook range that would not get hot. I replaced the element with one of the other elements and it still did not get hot. I ordered a new switch and installed it. The burner worked but the pilot light would not go on for just that element. The other switches did light the the pilot. I assumed the new switch was also defective and aske for a replacement. I installed the replacement switch. Now none of the switches have their pilot light come on.The switch I replaced comes on when switched to high but no heat when using the adjustable part of the switch. The voltage between the P and L1 connections are at 24V with the pilot wire disconnected. Please advise.

Answer Hi Doug. On the back of the surface switches there is a "P" letter designating that the pilot lights are all wired in series from one p-terminal to the other. Make sure to use all black L-1 wires to the corresponding terminals. Follow the internal wiring diagram. All red H-2 wires connect there. They both then proceed to the next switch daisy chained together. This is the one - 120vac feed. The red L-2 is the other feed. The H-1 takes the closed switch L-1 feed to the burner. The H-2 takes the red l-2 feed to the burner. The p- sends the closed switch voltage to the surface lights. Infinite switch part # 5303935086. Make sure all wires are isolated from each other as it is very tight inside the cook top switch area. Use black electrical tape in between each terminal if need be. Thank You.
I have a Kenmore Electric Range Model 790.96119409 and the right rear burner goes on and off by itself. I am not sure what needs to be replaced or the part number. Thank you.

Answer Hello John,
If the issue isn't a shorted wire, it will probably be the infinite switch 316436000. Most of the time if the element assembly has an issue, it won't heat up at all.
When I put surface control on med heat it sometimes gets too hot and burns food /right front burner/.

Answer Hi W.R. Your most common failed part is that burner switch that gets used the most. Part # 5303935086. Thank You.
What is the amperage rating of the switch ? I,m looking for one with a rating of 8.5-11 amps or so... Thanks
Pete for Model Number not sure
Answer Hi Pete. The infinite switch is rated at 2600 watts. Most others are rated at 1500 watts. At 240 vac this converts to 10.8amps. max. The switch is part # 5303935086. Thank You.
