How do I access the microswitch to check it (ap3959579)?
Answer Hello Frak,
Unplug the unit or turn off the breaker to the unit. Verify the power is off before continuing. Remove the drip tray and grasp the bottom of the dispenser cover assembly and pull down and away from the door at the same time with your knee against the door to prevent it from opening when you pull. This will pop the bottom loose and it can be slid up to unhook the top off of the door. Now the dispense cover is only attached by wires. I usually use electrical tape to suspend this assembly up out of the way. There should be four screws holding the module in place. Once you remove the screws, the switches are on the backside of this assembly.
The ice dispensor will not dispence ice.
Answer Hello Vinny. You will need to test the micro-switch 241689101 and see if it is bad in the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
Water continues to leak out of my water dispenser when not in use. What do I do to solve this?
Answer Hello Mike. If the dispenser is leaking, you will need to replace the water valve 242252702 on the unit. Make sure there is no air in the lines. If not, replace the valve. Hope this helps.
Our ice dispenser is stuck in the crushed ice setting. It won't dispense whole cubes no matter which buttons we push. I took out the unit, melted any ice buildup, and cleaned it. It didn't help. Any ideas?
Answer Hi Ray. Shut off ice maker. Tape the freezer inner door sw. closed.Hold the dispenser arm for ice and see if the solenoid changes up and down as you switch between cube and crush. Remove the ice bin. remove the 2-lower screws holding in the bin- rail assy. and lift off.Unhook the elect. connector holding auger and solenoids. Back in beside the auger motor is a crush/cube solenoids. The solonoid lifts the crush/cube teeth rod to allow either choice. If this has failed ,replace it with part # 241675704. Thank you.
Ice dispenser is stuck on. How do we know if we need a switch or a panel?
Answer Hi Donna. The actuator pad has a switch behind it. It is part # 241689101. Possibly shorted. Remember to repair any burn't switch connections. Thank you.
