Water dispenser actuator broke. Will it be necessary to remove the inside of the freezer door to replace or can it be replaced on the outside of the door? Someone told us it would be necessary to remove the inside of the door to replace but we saw a You Tube video that showed replacing if from the outside.
This water dispenser actuator would be replaced from the outside of the door and not from removing the inner door panel. To remove the outer panel you will want to use a flat blade and push it up under the bottom of the trim. Pry out on the bottom of the trim and it will pop loose. Then you can remove the screws holding the black housing that holds the actuator out and remove and replace.
Trying to replace the water actuator. The three screws to take the front panel off are rusted in place and I cannot unscrew. Tried using WD-40 to no avail. Any suggestions?
Answer Moe, You may want to try using a #2 Phillips "clutch" head tip or screw driver. You can usually get a better purchase on the screw head and may be able to remove them. Of course they're rusted because the screws pass through the metal door liner, and apparently there's been some water spillage into the drip tray area. You may wind up snapping off the screw heads, or you may have to drill them out and extract the screw shank with pliers. Either way try and be careful.
The water dispenser in the door has a very slow but constant drip, is there an adjustment or will a new lever fix this problem? It seems to leak right out of the tube where the water comes out to fill your glass.
Answer Marcus, have you changed the filter lately? If so, try purging the water tube by dispensing at least a gallon of water continuously. If this does not correct the issue you'll need to replace the water inlet valve, part number 242252702. Thanks.
My water dispenser and ice maker is barely working. The water drips out to make a full glass you have to stand there for 15-20 minutes and if you press the water lever it will come out a little more than it goes back to drip. It isn't making ice anymore. Before it would make ice chips that would melt instantly in water. What options or suggestions is there than I can try? I'm thinking of buying a new filter. Is that a good idea? There are no holes in any of the hoses.
Answer Hello Vada,
This sounds like you could have a water reservoir freezing up in the bottom of the fresh food compartment. You can test this theory by heating the water reservoir with a hair dryer for about 15 minutes. If the water pressure is restored after doing this, set the fresh food compartment to one setting COLDER and the freezer one setting warmer. I know this sounds backwards but it is a lack of air circulation that causes this condition. Setting the fresh food compartment colder will cause the fans to kick on more often, preventing the colder air from settling to the bottom of the compartment and freezing the water reservoir.
I purchased part #241682003 actuator. I cant get the water tube to stay in its' proper position.
Answer Hello Marie,
There is normally a small bracket that the water line clips into that holds it in the correct position. If you want specifics, please provide the model number off of the units' I.D. tag so we can look at your specific unit. You could try ordering the grille clips 218515401 and routing the water line through it to hold it in place.
