Washer will not agitate or spin. Motor hums. On taking motor out, drum spins easily by hand, agitate works easily by hand, motor runs free but has almost no torque. Is the motor bad or is there a connection issue? Thank you

The motor on my GE washer gets hot and smells like smoke. If I put in a t-shirt it will work correctly, but anything more it will smoke, not spin, and won't drain all the way. Can you tell me what the problem is?

My washer started making a loud banging at the end of the wash cycle. After it filled for the final rinse it didn't agitate much. It then drained, but would not do the final spin. I started to smell something then turned it off. I took off the front cover and the motor was really hot. Not sure if it's the motor or transmission. Open for suggestions...

The washer motor does fine when washing. On the Spin cycle it spins slow and stops. You can spin the tub manualy and it will spin. It will slow down and stop when not spinning it by hand. When the tub stops you can turn the tub in both directiond. Can part of the 2 speed motor be bad?

Over the last several months, the spin cycle seems to be slowing down. Now it will only spin if I start to spin it by hand, even when empty with no water. (I had to jerry rig the saftey switch to do this) I completly disassembeled the tub to check for any clothing jamed between the tub and basket only to find nothing. It is also pretty common for this washer to be over loaded from time to time. My question is; In your experience, What is the most likely problem? - Motor? Transmission? or Bearings? Thank You for your time!
