The water works on my dispenser but when I move the selectror switch to either cubed or crushed nothing happens except on crushed I hear a solenoid moving. Do I need to replace the circuit board where the switches are?
Answer Hello Dan,
First pull the ice bin from the unit and pour your ice into a large bowl. Take the crusher bin to the sink and use water to clear any ice-build-up from the bottom of the container and crusher blades. Make sure it will turn freely and dry it out. Pour your ice back in and re-try. If this corrects the issue, remember to do this every three or four months to prevent the build-up from causing another stoppage. You should also use a hair dryer on the auger motor for about 15 minutes to free it up. If this is the cause of the issue, the freezer temperature should be set a bit warmer to prevent condensation on the auger motor and verify good seal contact around the door seals and the ice door.
How do you get to the ap2071638 circuit board to replace on this model? Also water drips into ice maker. Do I need to replace water valve?
Answer Hello Joel. Yes, replace the valve. The way to change out the unit is by pulling the knobs off and the front cover where the lettering is will just pull off. There should be 4 screws to remove and the dispenser assembly. Disconnect the wiring and once the wiring is removed you will be able to remove the dispenser board and slide new one in place.
GE - fridge , I moved this working fridge downstairs. Ice is being made. Light for ice/water fill not working. Changed out light bulb (8watt) still not working.
If I open the freezer door, the light inside comes on. But we did damage that switch, but we can get light to come on and off, it's actually stuck in off pos, and if I pull on it, light in freezer works.
Now, if I check ac or dc voltage at the pins on top of freezer hinge, I just get like 8V ac, I don't get any DC or 120AC. Shouldn't there be power the the CB on freezer (AP2071638) or no? What part should I test?
I'm very knowledgeable with appliance / electronics and can test for continuity and voltages.
If the light switch for the interior light is damaged then you would want to replace the switch as it will cause the dispenser light to not work.
