Is this part correct for this refrigerator. We are experiencing freezing in the refrigerator box with normal conditions in the freezer box.
Answer Hello Don,
You should first check the evaporator fan motor WR60X162. If it is running too slowly, it can cause this complaint. If it runs full speed and starts back up to full speed when you stick a pencil in it and stop it, you will need to remove the freezer back wall to check for a frozen defrost drain and ice blockage of the air circulation ducting in the unit. The temperature control could have an issue but the freezer temperature would drop drastically also.
Fridge is cool, 48 degrees while the freezer is maintaining ice. Compressor & freezer fans working. Noticed ice building up on back of fridge temperature control. Water is collecting daily under bottom draws.
Answer Hello Fred. It sounds like the drain is clogged and It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the evaporator coils in the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
Are all GE and Hot point parts interchangeable?
Answer Hello Richard. Not all parts, but if it works with your model number, it is fine.
Is this part easy to install myself?
Answer Hello Carmelo,
First, unplug the unit. You will need to empty the top shelf so you can look straight up at the control box. There should be 4 or 6 screws holding it to the ceiling of the fresh food compartment. When they are removed, the control box will drop so you can see how it is put together. Be sure to route the aluminum tube on the temperature control in the same manner as the old one for proper temperature control. Don't lose any screws as they will be needed for the reassembly process. If you require further assistance, please let us know.
