I have an old 1992 GE Monogram. The freezer works fine, but the refrigerator side won't get any colder than 50 degrees. I've cleaned the coils and checked for overloading, but still no change. Is it the thermostat?

Thank you for your nice response. Are both these parts (WR9X569 and WR9X489) easy to install (plug and Play)? I would like to try and replace them myself but wondering the difficulty. Thank you. Original email and your response: Hi, My refrigerator works fine but when it stops running, it won't restart unless I bang on the control (425 knob) unit by the lightbulb in top of refrigerator side. Diagram shows the temperature control. Do you think this is what is causing the problem? Is the Temperature Control difficult to change? Also, does my refrigerator use the WR9X570 or WR9X569 as listed? Does this control take care of the freezer and refrigerator temperature. Thank you. Edward P for Model Number CSX22KWXA AD GE (Hotpoint) Answer Hello Edward, You would either have a bad thermostat or defrost timer. If it is not restarting everytime the unit cycles off then it would be the thermostat WR9X569. If it is about every 8-10 hours that it does not turn back on, right after it goes into defrost, then it would be your defrost timer WR9X489. My refrigerator has 2 control knobs, freezer setting and fresh food setting. Both knobs located in fresh food section. Diagram on this refrigerator shows only one physical control part# WR9X569. My question, is this control allowed to use 2 knobs, one for freezer, one for fresh food section?

Replaced the Defrost Heaters with thermostat in freezer about 1 week ago, fridge was working fine for 1 week, no fresh foods compartment getting warmer and water dripping off of power source coming out of freezer to temp. control. The walls of the fresh food compartments have condensation on them. Freezer still working fine. What could the problem be?

Two questions. 1. This ref temperature is swinging between 30F and 40F. Is this normal? What is normal? 2. The evap has no ice on it. It is covered about 2/3 with a light frost with the compressor running. Is this normal or is the system a little low on freon? Thanks

My side by side refrigerator, stopped cooling on the refrig. side.I removed the cover inside of freezer and found the coils frozen over. I unplugged the refrig and used a hairdryer to thaw out the coils. I replaced cover and it worked fine for about one week. Now I notice that the refrig side is getting warmer. The freezer side seems to be to cold even though it is at the lowest temp. setting. (ice cream is hard as a bone) What could the problem be?
