Dryer (GE/GTDP301ELOWS) Runs, but not producing heat. Although clothes appear to be blown, they're lightly damp and cool, also the dial does not appear to be moving to show how much time is left on the load.
Answer Fred, you may have more than one problem, try this, put the timer into a timed dry selection and start the machine, let it run 5 or 10 minutes and see if the timer advances, if it does, then the timer is most likely fine. The most common problem with an electric dryer that doesn't heat is a broken heater element WE11M10001 or wire to the element. You may want to start checking there.
Followed video instructions for replacing belt drive. No problem until i tried to put the new on. Part#
we12m29. The belt is very loose.
Answer Hello R[ck,
The idler arm should be hooked into the motor mount properly and pulled to the right as you are facing the front of the unit. If either of these are not correct, the belt will not install tightly.
LOUD SQUEEKING RUNS AND DRYS OK
Answer Dan, Loud squeaking noises from this type dryer is usually due to a worn drum bearing sleeve WE1M462 or shaft WE25M40, a worn belt WE12M29 can make noise, but is usually at the start of the cycle and goes away during the cycle. Depending on age and usage, you may want to replace both, the belt WE12M29 and bearing sleeve.
My dryer was making a speaking noise that got louder, then it was drying and made a loud thumping noise and stopped working. What could it be?
You will want to check to make sure that the belt is not broken. If the belt breaks the unit will not run. Also check the rotation of the tub to ensure that it spins when turning by hand. Check the bearing to make sure that it is not bad. You may have a sieze bearing.
