LOUD SQUEEKING RUNS AND DRYS OK
Dan for Model Number DWSR483EB3WW
Answer Dan, Loud squeaking noises from this type dryer is usually due to a worn drum bearing sleeve WE1M462 or shaft WE25M40, a worn belt WE12M29 can make noise, but is usually at the start of the cycle and goes away during the cycle. Depending on age and usage, you may want to replace both, the belt WE12M29 and bearing sleeve.
My dryer was making a speaking noise that got louder, then it was drying and made a loud thumping noise and stopped working. What could it be?

Answer Gwen,
You will want to check to make sure that the belt is not broken. If the belt breaks the unit will not run. Also check the rotation of the tub to ensure that it spins when turning by hand. Check the bearing to make sure that it is not bad. You may have a sieze bearing.
When the dryer is turned on and has run for a short time you can start to smell a rubber smell. I was wondering if the belt is in need of replacement.
Charlene for Model Number PBXR463GA1WW GE gas Dryer
Answer Hello Charlene,
When the belt starts slipping it is because something in the unit is opposing the turning of the drum. This is either the idler pulley WE12X83, the rear bearing kit WE25M40, or the front slides WE1M504 two of these, and WE1M1067 two of these. The front drum bearing support WE3M26 may require replacement if the clips that hold the slides in place are worn off. The belt WE12M29 will only require replacement if the unit is run too long with the opposition to the drum rotation occurring. As a note. the two green slides go to the middle and the white ones go on either side of the two green ones.

Yes I checked and the drum is tight, won't move at all. Don't know what to do or what that means.
Carla for Model Number DBSR463GG1WW
Answer Hello Carla. Something is either jammed inside the tub, or something is stuck inside the blower wheel. You will need to look and clear out what ever has the drum stuck.
