I thought the heating element was bad but I removed it and put power to it and they heated up fine. Is there another part or parts that could be causing the heating element not to get hot?

My renter says that they now have to go through 2 drying runs to get the clothes dry. That would seem to indicate that a heater element is bad and that the unit has two heater elements. They said that the dryer is still producing heat. Can the heater tray be removed from the back of the washer/dryer unit.

Looks like there are two thermostats. One on the heating unit that has two prongs- this one has continuity. The other is on an air box that is connected to the lint filter. This has 4 prongs.. Not sure how to test this. Also how do I test the heater? I assume you mean the heating element.

When the unit is running, I have power to the heating element in the dryer portion, about 120 volts. No heat. Does this mean the element is shot? What should the resistance be if working properly, and what if not working properly?
