I long time ago I decided to change the water filter. When I did the filter blasted off (a lot of pressure) to the extent I was worried I would have broken the shelf. I put the new filter on and found the pressure was was down. I left it that way for several days (knowing you can get air in the lines) but the pressure never improved. I reverted to the old filter for a few days and it was just as poor. I even emptied the unit completely, thawed it and retested without change. I suspect this is the first part to try replacing, but I also wonder about the valves. Any advice appreciated!

Having the same "water doesn't shut off when replacing filter" issue that everyone seems to have with these. Turns out the piece that opens the valve was broken off inside. The part # of the tube and filter assembly for my model is 197D3089G014, which is no longer available in the States, apparently, and the shop in which I found one in Canada won't ship to the US. Looks like 197D3089G014 is listed as an alternate for WR17X11920, though I don't see my model # listed to know if it will work as a replacement. Help?

There are 2 water filter assemblies - WR17X11920 and WR17X11618 - that show for my appliance model. Which one is correct? Also, I have the issue another person mentioned. I was going to replace the filter and when I removed it water spewed everywhere. Put the bypass in - same problem, put the old filter in - same problem. I had to shutoff the water valve at the wall as my kitchen was flooding at that point. Could it be a burr? Here's what was suggested in another answer to check: "If the valve has not closed and you are getting full pressure (with the power off the valve) then it will be an issue. Remove the water line going to the filter head from the valve. Turn the house valve back on and the units valve should not spew water unless the valve is defective." I don't understand this. Where do I remove the water line going to the filter head? At the house valve?

I can do some repairs and I have basic instruments only. I need to replace this filter assembly as my current one is flowing too slow. When I took out the filter, the water was still running from the assembly. I think something is wrong in the assembly unit. Anyways, is it too difficult to change this assembly?
