If you grab the bottom of the dispenser control and pull out on it, the control panel will pop off. Once off there will be 4 screws that you remove that will allow the lever and housing assembly to come out and will give you access to replace the lever.
My ice is always clumped up in frozen lumps. Every two or three days, I have to dig out just about all of the ice. Is there a cure for this?
Answer Bobby, Yes, there is a cure, First check the ice maker fill tube and ice maker, Make sure there are no leaks or drips from the fill tube or ice maker, allowing the water to overflow, and drip down into the ice bin and freeze the cubes together, something like that is usually caused by a fill valve issue WR57X10032. Check and make sure the ice door in the dispenser is closing and sealing properly. Warm room air can migrate up the chute and cause the cubes to stick together. Check the packages in the freezer, if there is excess ice or moisture in the packages, or "freezer burn" on the articles, this could indicate an issue in the defrost cycle getting too warm and causing the articles and cubes to melt and stick together.

You would take the front off the dispenser assembly by grasping from the bottom of the user interface and pull. Once off there are 4 screws that you would remove to pull dispenser housing out. Once out you replace the funnel assembly.
Where do I put the spring for the ice dispenser cup?
Answer Hi. This spring is placed (facing from the front of the unit) on the crank door recess part # WR17X10706 upper rt. pivot arm. The u-shaped spring end is placed down towards the inside of the crank door. The straight open end is placed upwards and holds tension in the fountain bracket itself. You may need to wind this end one revolution only in order to get back tension on the door to keep the chute flapper shut correctly. Thank You.
Ice dispenser spontaneously starts dispensing and won't stop until unplugging door cable. Generally occurs an hour or so after ice was dispensed but has sometimes been many hours, hence we are unable to leave plugged in to avoid ice all over the floor. All other functions of the dispenser seemed to be working fine. Is this a bad selonoid or switch activated by the ice funnel mech.? Is the dispenser control panel on SS model removed the same as for other models, the display panel seems to be a tight fit and I don't want to break the plastic by prying too hard?

Remove the fountain control cover by releasing the 3-lower hidden clips on the bottom of the keypad. behind the chute housing there is a micro switch part # WR23X10783 that the paddle actuates. It is common this will short out and cause this issue you describe. Make sure the Ice dispenser solenoid PART #WR62X10055 is not stuck open or the plunger dragging. Use a volt/ohm meter part # TJMA-DM1 to assist you in your diagnostics. Use the R x 1 ohm scale to check the switch actions with the wires disconnected. If it is OK then remove the upper hinge cover and check the upper door hinge wiring for being bare and shorting. If this is all OK then replace the fountain control part # WR55X11192. Thank You.

Answer Hi Brian. 1st- remove the control panel by using a small screwdriver to unlock the tabs from the bottom of the control panel. Slide the bottom down and out. Remove the 4- Screws that hold the dispenser housing in place. Unclasp any electrical connections the may be plugged in. Mark any connections for reassembly ease. Side out the assembly. This will give you access to the chute assembly. Reassembly is in reverse. You may also need the spring part # WR49X10233 and the paddle micro switch part # WR23X10783 that are directly affected as well from the dispenser funnel part # WR17X11267. Thank You.
The dispenser for the water and ice does not work. The Funnel Ice Dispenser does not pop out so when I put a glass in it does not push in. I had it looked at and the repair man said that the spring was broke or missing and in order to fix it I would need to replace the entire door. Is this true?
Answer Hi John. I would use a volt/ohm meter part # TJMA-DM1 to assist. you in your diagnosis. Remove the lower toe kick panel and find the wiring diagram. Then follow it to see what connections at the upper door connectors will give the house voltage. If any are burnt, then repair them or bypass them in order to get the voltage down to the door switch and then to the user interface part. UN hook the lower water tube connector from under the freezer door. Hold the center of the coupler and the push in the collar ring as you are pulling the hose out. Place the cabinet hose in a bucket. Call for water. Is the hose squirting water now? If so then it tells you that the inner water tank is unfrozen and the fountain control panel is electrically OK. IS the paddle part # WR17X11267 OK and not broken? There is a micro- switch part # WR23X10783 beside the paddle that you will get the 120 vac to it on the common terminal (c). Then when you press the paddle it closes the switch and sends the voltage to the fountain controls part # WR55X10517. Let us know how to assist. you further. Thank You.
