I'm looking to replace the interface display assembly for my GE refrigerator (WR55X10298). Does it come out of the freezer door easily. Is it possible to get step-by-step directions?
Answer Brian, It's not difficult at all, just be careful . The dispenser assembly consists of the interface, display board, dispenser shield, and duct door functioning parts. The dispenser interface can be removed to access the display board and the dispenser shield mounting screws. The interface is held in place by 4 tabs that hold it to the dispenser recess. To remove the interface, it is necessary to grasp the bottom lip of the interface on either side and gently pull it towards you. There are 3 wire harnesses connected to the display board. Note: The interface and display board are replaced as a complete assembly.
When assembling, insert top tabs into the top of dispenser recess first, then snap the bottom into place.
How do remove the ice maker control panel.
To remove the control panel on the dispenser assembly you would just grasp the lower part of the control with your fingertips and lift and pull and it will pop off.
How difficult is it to switch this part out? From use, the touch screen is cracking at a couple of the buttons. Do you furnish instructions with the part and can it be done by a reasonable novice?
Answer Hello Pete. The dispenser interface unsnaps out of the dispenser to replace it. You will need to disconnect the power to the unit before doing the repair. Then start at the bottom corner and unsnap the interface from the dispenser. Reinstall in reverse order. Hope this helps.
