Wrote earlier code on motor board is flashing 10 times. What do I do ?
Answer Mitch, The 10 flashes from the motor board LED indicates a communication failure between the motor and the control board. Not all GE washers have this code. you'll need to check the harness for loose or broken connections, then retrieve the tech data sheet from the control console and conduct the field service tests to properly diagnose and repair the washer.
After the wash cycle completes and drains the washer does not fill for the rinse cycle. It continues to drain for about five minutes and then stops. If I advance the dial to rinse immediately after the draining stops it just start to drain again and then stops again. If I wait approximately 15-20 minutes and then start the rinse cycle it does fill and complete the rinse cycle. Seems like the timer is not triggering the washer to move on to the rinse cycle.
Answer Hello Ron,
If you use a putty knife to remove the front panel, you can look at the light on top of the motor under the splash shield. The tech sheet in the control panel tells how to interpret the flashes for the codes. 1 SECOND ON - 1 SECOND OFF is NORMAL STANDBY. /// .5 SECOND ON - .5 SECOND OFF is NORMAL RUNNING. /// 1 FLASH - LONG STOP TIME - REPLACE MOTOR. /// 2 FLASH - SLIPPING BELT * CHECK BELT /// 3 FLASH - CORRUPTED SOFTWARE - REPLACE MOTOR /// 4 FLASH - MODE SHIFT CIRCUIT FAILED - * CHECK MODE SHIFTER COIL /// 5 FLASH - NOT IMPLEMENTED - REPLACE MOTOR /// 6 FLASH - Locked Rotor - * MAKE SURE SYSTEM IS FREE /// 7 FLASH - LID SWITCH DID NOT OPEN - * CHECK LID SWITCH /// 8 FLASH - MOTOR OVERHEATED - * MAKE SURE SYSTEM IS FREE /// 9 FLASH - BRAKE RESISTOR OPEN - REPLACE MOTOR /// 10 FLASH - COMMUNICATION ERROR - * CHECK BACKSPLASH CONTROL /// ON 2,4,6,7,8 & 10 FLASH ERRORS IF NO SYSTEM FAILURES ARE FOUND, REPLACE MOTOR
How do I change the lid switch assembly?
To replaced the lid switch you will use a putty knife between the main top and the front panel. There are 2 spring clips that have to be pushed in. Once pushed in then you lift the main top in order to access the lid switch to replace.
My washer will not fill. Is there any suggested repair or what to look into?
Answer Hello Melissa. Blow through the pressure hose and make sure it or the air dome is not clogged. If not, then test for power to the water valve. If there is power there and no water then you will need to replace the valve WH13X10037 on the unit.
The machine won't agitate or spin. I originally changed the lid switch because I fiddled with the wires and it worked for a while. I can't find an led light blinking on inverter board. This is my in-laws washer so I'm helping out (trying at least). What now?
Answer Hello J.H.,
The led light is under the metal cover on top of the motor assembly. The number of flashes from this light with a pause indicates what fault code the unit is experiencing. The tech sheet tells you the fault codes and what each of them mean. Be aware of the in line fuse between the lid switch and the motor.
My GE washer will not spin or drain it was making a screeching sound while in the draining and spin cycle. This machine is only 1 year old. Do you think it may be the drain pump or maybe the lid switch. How can you determine if the pump is shot?
You will want to pull the pump and check to see if there is something that is caught in it and causing the impeller not to turn. This would most likely be the cause for the issue. If there is something that got in the pump it is very possible that it damaged the pump.
Washer will not do anything. There is power going to the unit. Push start button but it beeps and then nothing.
Answer Hello Lee,
You should first check the lid switch WH12X10334. If it doesn't make electrical connection, the machine will not operate.
