The dryer warms up but it seems like it doesn't get hot enough. I'd like to be able to get it apart so I can test the heating coils and the thermostats and thermal fuse. How do I expose these parts?

Unit heats up OK but runs without stopping. On some settings, appears to be way too hot but won't stop running and heating regardless of the setting. Unit is approximately 3 years old.

GE profile dryer used to dry a lot of clothes in 40-45 minutes, now as soon as you start it, it says 81 minutes. This started all at once, I wonder if one element could be burned out.

I am getting ready to order a new heating element for my GE Dryer. I noticed that there are 2 parts listed for this model. The first appears to be a standard heating assembly with housing (GE WE11M23) but the second is a mica heater with housing (GE WE11M30). Can either be used with this model? I've read that micathermic heaters are more efficient than traditional coils. Would it be worth changing to a micathermic heater assembly (assuming it will fit this model)? Do they last as long as a traditional coil assembly? What are the pros and cons?

Tumbles, sounds as if it is working after 80 minutes items are still not dry. I am referring to heavy weight items like towels-no I'm talking about personal items. Was given this in April of 2011 . Single individual using it about 3 times every other week.

My GE dryer model DRSR483EG5WW runs, looks, and sounds OK, but produces no heat.I plan to order several parts, and return what I don't need... ...which parts would you suggest? E.g. thermostat, heating element, other parts you may suggest. Thanks

My dryer will not heat up. We have taken it apart and checked the heating element, it tested fine in the dryer and out. My future son in law tested all the other interior parts and they all are testing good. I took a chance and thought it was the timer switch, so I ordered the part. Got it yesterday but it was not the problem. I really do not want to purchase a new dryer, but I am not sure where to start now.

My dryer is hit and miss with starting. More times than not, when you push the Start button, it simply clicks like it's turning on, says "drying", but doesn't move. If it's left on like that, the timer still counts down. Sometimes it will start and runs fine. I have checked the door switch and it clicks when pressed and the light goes off. Could there be a short in the Start button? Thanks.

This unit will not start. It began being difficult to start some time ago. The unit would start sometimes and work ok. Other times it would begin only to shut down a few minutes later. I replaced the start switch with little affect, it did actually start once with the timer in the wrinkle out mode. I have checked the thermostat for continuity. The four wire showed open at the inner terminals originally but a couple hours later I re-checked at it showed some resistance although it was not pegged. When the unit runs it sounds very smooth and strong. I have cleaned all the lint out and removed the vent pipe to be sure the exhaust was clear. From the very beginning I have suspected the timer but I am not going to replace the dryer one piece at a time. I need some help; timer? 4 wire thermostat? something elses? please help, my wife is seriously considering action, on me.
