Freezer is Freezing up.
Answer Hello Scott. You will need to check the defrost heater WR51X10042, thermostat WR50X10068, thermistor WR55X10025, and the main board WR55X10942. Either can cause the unit not to defrost. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
I have a GE Monogram refrigerator. It has started making a rattling sound every 15 to 45 minutes. Do you think damper assembly (WR49X10091) is the problem? If so, what is the step by step procedure to install it.
Answer Hello Keshav,
You actually need to pull the unit out and check the fan blade and motor on the condenser fan. I have seen many times that the bearings in the motor are failing and will set up a "harmonic vibration". If the sound is coming from the inside, you need to determine if it is coming from the top of the fresh food side, (damper assembly), or behind the back panel in the freezer section, (evaporator fan/blade issue with possible frost accumulation). This should help in determining where to look for the problem.
How do you remove and replace the damper assembly? Damper # AP3775595. Thank you Sam
To remove the damper assembly you will need to remove top shelves in the refrigerator compartment. Remove the cover at the bottom of the tower and remove the 2 screws under it. Then remove the light cover and the screws under the light cover and remove the trim around the light. Remove the 2 screws holding the tower in and remove the tower assembly.
2 problems- can't change from water to crushed or cube ice. Now won't dispense anything. I can hear a solenoid click but no water.
With the unit not switching from water to crushed or cubed ice you will want to check to make sure that the dispenser control is not locked. Press and hold the lock button for 3 seconds and then try to change the controls and see if the unit will dispense. If not then the dispenser control would appear to be faulty and need to be replaced. The part number for the dispenser control is WR55X10304.
The fridge side is too cold. I have changed the setting still to cold.
Answer Hello Mark. Check and make sure the damper is opening and closing. If not, you will need to order and replace the damper assembly in the unit.
Need help getting to damper control assembly on GE refrigerator.
Food freezes in refrigerator half of unit. If this item is broken, I will order new one.
Answer Hello Rick. The gasket is the correct size and will compress. The spout piece will go into the damper side of the assembly. 1. Remove light shield... more and rear light bulb from the top tower of the refrigerator. 2. Pull top two shelves out approximately two inches. 3. Pull tower assembly with both hands. Push tower right then left to expose screws. Remove screws. 4. Remove air duct by pulling straight back. Some models have complete horseshoe, some models have air duct on either side of light, and some models do not have an air duct. 5. Remove filter housing cover. Press in left side and pull straight out. Remove light assembly by removing four to eight screws (depending on model). 6. Remove existing damper assembly. 7. Install new damper assembly wr49x10091 8.. Reinstall all parts. When reinstalling light shield, screw in frame on one side, then position aluminum light housing, and finally screw in other side of frame. When reinstalling air duct, hold up duct in its proper grooves, then slide duct backwards. Make certain air duct tabs go in slots as shown.
