I recently bought AP2624873 (WB53K5) Bottom oven part for my oven because it cracked. The flame which comes from the bottom caused it to crack. Can you suggest what I need to lower the flame which shoots up to the oven
Flame Size Reduction- If air shutter adjustments fail to provide proper flame length or flame characteristics, the gas flow to the burner can be
reduced (on Natural Gas installations only) by turning the orifice hood slightly in the LP direction. For best results, remove the flame spreader and observe the flame while turning the hood.
Pilot light is on, but oven will not get hot. When I light with a lighter the pilot light will not enlarge or spread.
Answer Jones, Yes, the safety valve WB19K12 is the next logical and most likely issue. The heat from the pilot is transferred to the safety valve and opens the valve for ignition and burner flame. This is a milliamp / millivolt system and does not take a lot to become waeak and fail.
When you turn on the oven the burner is delayed but will lite, however the flame never extends above burner and oven does not get hot. I was going to replace the safety valve on the oven thinking that is the problem. I was wondering if i needed to convert anything on the new part for propane? Also am i heading in the right direction?
Answer Hello Jeff,
You need to check the broil burner first. If it lights normally, there is no need in changing the safety valve. The issue is most commonly the ignitor. You see, the ignitor must draw from 3.2 to 3.6 amps of current before the safety valve can open. This is the current required to form the necessary electromagnetic field to open the safety valve against the force of the safety valves' closure spring. If the broil burner starts normally, the issue in with the current draw and will have nothing to do with the safety valve itself.
Had the stove changed from propane to natural gas and now can not get the oven to lite. The up top burners work fine. any thoughts??
Answer Hello John. When they converted the range, did they do both the oven and the cooktop on the unit? It sounds like the unit was not converted properly. If it worked before and not now. Or they damaged the igniter in the oven and it needs to be replaced.
