Are the surface mount receptacles universal for an eletric stove?
Dom
Answer Hello Dom! No, the surface unit receptacle is not universal. For a universal kit you may use part number 330031. Thanks!
Is this the part I need if I have a burner that doesn't work? I replaced the burner itself and it still didn't work, so I thought it was a Heating Element type thing, but can't find and heating element for the burners - just these "unit Receptacle" things? Thanks for any help.
Vickie for Model Number GE P7 Model # JBP51GOO1AD
Answer Hello Vickie, since you already replaced the element, let's assume it is good until we check the other possibilities. Take a look at the wiring to the elements and make sure you have a good connection and nothing is burned or broken. If that all checks out, check your receptacle WB17X5051 to see if it needs to be replaced. Usually when a receptacle fails, the contacts will be burned or broken. If they are good, it's likely the infinite switch WB21X5243. Hope this helps!
This is a cook top model and does not tilt up. How do I replace the unit receptacle? Do I remove Part 2, where the 4 control knobs are located to get to the wire harness? Is this part supposed to be easily removed?
Service Guy for Model Number JP661BOC3BC 6" surface unit receptacle
Answer Service Guy, no it's not going to be very easy, You'll need to lift the unit out of the counter opening, and support it with a couple of 1X2 in. wood strips. remove the frame, elements and element receptacle screws, then remove the perimeter screws holding the cooktop to the burner box, then lift the cook top up and off the frame. Then you can remove prt #2 and !0 and access the switches and wiring.
I have determined I need a AP2021559 surface unit receptacle. I cannot see how to get the stove top up to do the repair. It doesn't seem to lift up like the one in your video. Does it have screws or something? Thanks.
Linda K. for Model Number GE model jbp24g h3 electric stove
Answer Hello Linda,
There are only a couple of ways that the main tops are ever attached. Some have three or four screws going up into the front edge of the main top that are visible only when you open the door. Some have spring clips which have to be depressed with a paint scraper as slight pressure is applied upward on each side respectively. Others are only setting there. This one either has three or four screws above the door or is just stuck down from years of grease build-up.
This Surface Unit Receptacle wires look shorter then the wires on my unit. Should I be looking for another part? Additionally is there a switch that goes along with replacing both the Surface Unit Receptacle and burner?
Thanks for your help.
Elizabeth H. for Model Number j bp22 da2
Answer Hi Elizabeth. There is a different type of the unit receptacle if you want. There is a bakelite type and a ceramic (better) type. The receptacle (bakelite) is part # WB17X5113. The ceramic style is part # []. Depending on the burner in question, there are different switches for different burner sizes. Let us know what area /and size of the burner. Surface Unit Receptacle - By GE. Fits GE and Hotpoint ranges where a plastic terminal block is used. It is recommended to also check the surface elements for any burns. For the large 8 inch surface element order AP2634728. For the small 6 inch surface element order AP2634727.

I am replacing the burner receptacle on this stove GE Model # JBC26ON1AD and would like to know how to raise (lift) the top for access.
Oilman for Model Number JBC26ON1AD
Answer Hello Oilman. According tot he manufacture, you do not need to raise the top at replace the receptacle WB17X5113. You will need to disconnect the power, then remove the element from the cooktop. Next remove the drip bowl and remove the screw (on certain models) securing the receptacle in place. Pull the receptacle out enough to access the wires. Cut the wires to the old receptacle and splice in the new receptacle. Reinstall in reverse order. Hope this helps.
