My GE started to overfill the water on the 2nd cycle and sometimes on the 1st cycle. I have it for almost 10 years w/out a problem. Any thought? Thank you
Answer Hello Marc,
You need to open the control panel and remove the hose from the pressure switch. There could be a lint build-up of a detergent residue that is causing a partial clog to the pressure switch. Blowing back toward the tub through the pressure switch hose can sometimes clear the clog. Otherwise, I would replace the pressure switch WH12X10093.
The water does not stop filling at the desired level
To test the pressure switch do I disconnect the electric or the low voltage wire at the pressure switch to see if it is the switch or the board?
Answer Hello Ron. If you can stop the water from entering the machine by turning off the timer or unplugging the unit, you will need to look for a bad pressure hose or replace the pressure switch. If the only way to shut off the water is at the shut off for the water hoses, you will need to replace the water valve in the unit.
Washer won't fill in cold water setting. It works fine in the hot water setting.
Answer Hello Kathy,
This can be the water valve or the water temperature switch.
Your answer to Dave for Model Number whse5240docc seems to answer my concern. There is mention of a "dome" pocket that collects lint, suds etc. I have cleaned the opaque hose but I can see debris in the dome. Is there a way o get into that "dome" pocket so I can get debris out?
Answer Hello Greg,
There is no way to access the inside of the dome, but use of the pressure switch hose can be used to blow the debris out of the way. This is the only way to clear the opening short of "fishing" it clear with a nylon string or something equivalent. You cannot use anything that may puncture the tub or dome.
my washer only fills up with cold water, when its time for it to fill with hot, it doesnt, just cold comes out.
Answer Mike, you most likely have a faulty fill valve WH13X10024. But make sure you have hot water at the faucet and the fill hose and valve screens are not clogged with sediment from the water pipes/supply.
My washer fills up w/water then washes but won't drain! I'm guessing it's the pump!?
Answer Hello Greg. Test for power coming to the drain pump WH23X10030. If there is power there and not draining, replace the pump. If there is no power, make sure the lid switch is good and if so, replace the control WH12X10323. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
my machine does not fill with water.Repairman said it was mainboard. I ordered & replaced it but still does not fill just goes to wash cycle
Answer Ralph, You're on the right track, You need to check the air tube from the water level switch, for kinks and clogs(blow in the hose) first, then replace the water level switch. Thanks and Good Luck
My washer won't spin out correctly. I can flip all the dials to reset the system and sometimes that helps sometimes I just keep flipping till it spins. Is there a part I can order to fix this?
Answer Billybob, You may have a "sticky" lid switch assemblyWH12X10141 but, you need to check the drain hoses and drain pumpWH23X10030 and the water level switch air dome hose for clogs, kinks and twists, first. Thanks and Good Luck
