Would the tub spinning instead of the agitator indicate a failing transmission? GE Profile top-load washer.
Answer Hello Dab. It could be the transmission. First try to see if the motor is running in the same direction during agitation verses spin. If the motor is going in the same direction, you most likely have a bad timer. If the motor is changing directions, you have a bad transmission. Hope this helps.

I have noticed wet-looking marks on my clothes. I first thought it was fabric softener but have changed my routine and eliminated fabric softener all together and use white vinegar instead. Still have spots. Then I changed my laundry detergent to liquid and didn't use as much. Spots still continue. Please don't tell me this is due to a bad transmission.
Answer Hello Barbie,
I would remove the agitator and use hot white vinegar and a non-metallic brush, (old toothbrush works great), to clean the underside of the agitator. The fabric softener can cling in there and break free into the wash and stain material. This is not an uncommon issue and it is VERY unlikely that transmission oil has gotten into the wash.
