Would the tub spinning instead of the agitator indicate a failing transmission? GE Profile top-load washer.
Answer Hello Dab. It could be the transmission. First try to see if the motor is running in the same direction during agitation verses spin. If the motor is going in the same direction, you most likely have a bad timer. If the motor is changing directions, you have a bad transmission. Hope this helps.

GE unit is uncharacteristicly loud as it works through spin/rinse cycles. What could be the possible causes?
Answer Hello Gary,
If the sound is coming from the drain pump WH23X10030 it could be debris in the pump. If coming from the motor WH20X10019, it could have a bad motor winding or bad bushings in the motor. If it is coming from the center of the unit, you could have a bad transmission assembly WH38X10002.
Hi I have an older washer and now it appears that there is grease/oil coming out under the agitator. any Idea where that may be coming from? Seal from transmission leaking perhaps?
If you are using a liquid fabric softener then the most likely issue is that this is just old fabric softener. If not the transmission seal would be the issue and would require the transmission to be replaced.
Do you sell the seal for the bushing on transmission?
Answer Hello Tammy,
I'm sorry but this transmission in not considered serviceable by the manufacturer so they have not made individual parts for the transmission available.
My trans shaft is pitted. Will this cause leak at tub seal?
There is always a remote chance for the unit to leak at the tub seal if the transmission is pitted at the seal and dependent on how bad the pitting is. In most cases though the transmission being pitted would not cause a leak.
