I have to shut off my cold water hose or my washer fills up and overflows. Works fine on the hot cycle but when it gets to the cold rinse side of it. I have to turn cold water hose back on and eyeball when to shut it back off.

We moved to a new place. The movers were supposed to reconnect our washer. After they left, we noticed only the cold water fill hose was connected and the hot water fill hose was missing. We bought a new hose to finish the job, but when we turned on the hot water, the pressure at the inlet valve (where the hose connects to the washer) was so strong that water sprayed out like crazy. Did some troubleshooting and it's not a faulty hose (e.g. using it as a cold water hose works fine). Interestingly, when the machine is filling on a "cold only" cycle, water comes out from the hot water inlet valve no matter if a hose is connected there or not but not at any other time (e.g. spin). What could be the problem? Do we need a new water inlet valve? Or can we clean it out? We tried removing the valve to check but the outlet hose (underneath the panel, next to the solenoids) won't shimmy off even when we have removed the clamp. Comments welcome on how to solve the problem. Thanks. (GE Profile, Mod.: WPRE6100G2WT)

GE WWA 8320 washer that fills very slowly during any cycle that is cold. Warm, hot is OK. Problem occurs during both wash and rinse. Discharge is ok.

My mother-in-law has a g.e. washer. She was doing a wash and the washer over filled. Is there something else besides the electric water valve that could malfunction? What sends the signal to the electric valve to shut the water off?

Hey! Well, I know that's what they're supposed to do with the new water valve, but the old one doesn't look like it's made the same way. Could the two be different in that respect? Could the old one NOT have the "pull-off, plug-in" terminals which would mean that the new one wouldn't work correctly? Thanks for your reply!

I found the part number on the wiring specs stored underneath the timing mechanism - I couldn't identify any model number on the washer. Sorry! It looks like the wires are connected to this part separately rather than with...are they called solenoids (they are sort of like plug-in connections)? Is there anything tricky about reconnecting these wires or is there a way to use the solenoids with a different part? I hope I'm explaining myself...Thanks
