Gary H. for Model Number LMV 1630WW
Answer Gary, The first inclination would be to check or replace the capacitor 0CZZW1H004C and diode 6851W1A001V. If eithert is weak or failed, this can produce a loud buzzing noise, odor, and a no cook situation. There's also a posibility that the transformer 6170W1D052Z or magnetron 2B71165R has failed. All these components are high voltage, and you'll need to be very careful and make sure the power is disconnected, and the capacitor is discharged before you start any repairs or tests.
Note: This question is for the older version of this part, but we thought you might still find it helpful
Is this the high voltage diode that is connected to the high voltage capacitor. Why is it called the cable assembly? Can I get technical support to confirm what the ohm reading in both direction should be?
Keith for Model Number 721.80014100
Answer Hello Keith. Yes, the cable assembly 6851W1A001V is the diode for the model number you provided. You should only be able to read through the diode in one direction. If the diode reads both ways, it is bad. Hope this helps.
