My dryer is making a terrible thumping noise. Prior to this, the kids complained about a high pitched squeak while it was running. Do I need to replace the rollers? Should I also replace the belt and pulley assembly while I'm at it? Is this something a guy with a modest amount of mechanical ability can handle?
Answer Hi Charlie, it could be that your rollers 4581EL2002C have failed. You have 2 in the front and 2 in back on your model. Check your drum seal 4036EL3001A and it's always a good idea to check your belt 4400EL2001A, idler pulley 4561EL3002A, and blower wheel 5835EL1002A while your in there. Most of those parts are inexpensive and can save you from having to go into it again for a similar repair. It's not a tough repair job and if you look at the diagrams on our website, they may help you figure it out as you go along. By the way, it's also a good time to look at your lint screen 5231EL1003B to see if it needs replacing and take advantage of our flat rate shipping. Hope this helps!
Drum started making noise for about 5 minutes and then stopped and now won't turn. Any Suggestions and or does it sound like the belt broke. If so, any where to look for replacement instructions for the belt? Thanks
Answer Hi. Remove the tumbler and spin the blower wheel to see if the motor part # 4681EL1008A is locked down (bearings) or anything stuck in the blower wheel part # 5835EL1002A. Spin the back tumbler support wheels to see if they are locked up and the shaft part # 4581EL2002C is worn out as well. It is common the tumbler support above the heater assy. will dry out and wear out soonest. Invert the drum wheel belt part # 4400EL2001A to see if it is frayed or chunks of the track is gone. Thank You.
