After turning on the dryer the gas lights for a few seconds and then stops. I then need to reset the Thermostat Assembly. watching the gas light, it does not go down the tube instead burns wide and right at the end of the tube. do I need to change the whole gas valve assembly?

OK, i just read a couple of Q's below. It seems that the ignitor can be tested and have continuity but still be bad because it glows yellow and doesn't get white hot? How can you know that? I would have to put everything back together, keep the lower panel off of the front-load dryer and turn it on, watch the ignitor to see what color it glows? Is that the deal?

When I press the button to turn on the dryer, it works once in a while. The ignitor is orange in color and the blue flame comes for about 30 seconds then goes off. I do here a noise coming from below when the unit is not working. The noise will come on and off every 30 seconds or so. If I play with it long enough the unit does start working. ( turning the unit on and off numerous times) any idea?

My gas dryer does not generate heat. I took it apart and cleaned all the vents, I couldn't figure out how to test the ignitor or gas valves. I visually inspected the ignitor and it seemed fine. Reassembled, but (no surprise) it's still not heating. I do see an orange glow underneath. Based on other questions/comments, it appears that the glow should turn off after a short while then turn back on. In my dryer's case, it appears to stay on for a long time without shutting off. Would this be the gas valves that need to be replaced, or is there something else I'd need to consider?

Hi, I have a LG DLG8388WM, the igniter glows orange (never gets white) and the flame burns for 5 seconds then turns off. This repeats every 1 an a half to 2 minutes. I checked the flame sensor, the high limit thermostats and the igniter are all ok. Is it the coils on the gas valve that are going bad? Thank you.

I have a DLG0452w the dryer will shut off within 5 seconds of operation the safety thermostat will open and disrupt power to the gas valve but when I by pass the thermostat the unit will work fine. The thermostat reads ok, I am not sure if the coil of the valve is weak, resistance of the thermostat is ok. The unit has two thermostat high limit and safety thermostat, any advise

Dryer will not heat up. Ignitor glows then stops but I dont hear any gas and I have no flame. Checked thermostat sensors and they have continuity. Is the problem with the coil valve? If it is, do I have to replace the whole valve coil assembly or can I just replace the Coils? Thanks

Hi, I recently replaced the gas burner valve assembly on my dryer because the dryer would dry inconsistently. When it didn't dry I would get the orange glow for a few seconds, but a blue flame would not follow. The valve was also very loud when trying to open. After replacing the valve assembly, the dryer worked like a champ for a few weeks. The dryer was drying again, better than before, there wasn't a loud noise when the valve was opening - like before, but I did notice a very repetitive clicking sound. I figured this was normal since clothes would dry properly, but now I am not sure. After a few weeks with the new valve assembly, I was back to square one. Orange glow, no blue flame. This time I noticed that it stopped working a day after running the dryer, when the dryer emitted a strong natural gas odor. When I noticed the odor, I peaked at the flame and noticed it was loud and erratic. I stopped using it that day and was hoping it was just a one time occurrence. The next day, however, the dryer stopped drying altogether. It seems like I got a bad gas valve assembly, but I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something else causing the valve assembly to stop working. Thanks.

LG DLG2102W ... about 3.5yrs old from date of purchase. Drum Spins, Control Panel seems to be working ... dryer disassembled to inspect. Burner is not lighting ... neither coils are glowing. I take it from the forums that ... I should test the current to the coils .... if it has current, then the coils are shot, replace the whole valve assembly. If no current, then replace the control board. If valve and/or control board is replaced and still does not work ... replace the thermostat. What else might be broke here? Review & Kindly Confirm, Thanks! Dan
