I cannot remove the faceplate of this ice maker. I am able to release the bottom tab, but the top part will not wiggle free. Is there something I'm missing? I need to adjust the fill time, because the ice cubes are too big on all three settings.
On this icemaker there is not an adjustment that can be made on the inside. This is an electric mechanical icemaker and has a control board that allows the unit to fill to proper amount. The issue could be too high of water pressure which is allowing too much water to come into the icemaker or it could be a water valve that is allowing a little water to drip past and run into the icemaker causing it to overfill.
The tray doesn't fill up the lights are on. Just no filling up what could it be.Was gonna buy the ice maker but not sure if it could be the water valve. I've defrost the line in the freezer and still no luck. Thanks
Answer Hello Anthony. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
Kenmore Elite. 2006 my ice maker recently, quit making the actual cubes. Water is coming out and just filling up the ice bucket...solid block of ice. Should I replace the ice maker, or is there a simple adjustment to the ice maker I can attempt to repair? Would love not to spend the $150.00 for repair man to walk thru my door. Thank you look forward to your assistance.
You will want to pull the icemaker out of the freezer compartment and check to see if the fill cup on the icemaker is frozen. If the fill cup is frozen then you will want to clear the ice and replace the water valve. The water valve would be allowing a trickle of water in even though it is not calling for water. To remove the icemaker there are 2 screws at the top center part of the icemaker that is connected to the mold. There is 1 screw at the bottom. You will need to remove the baskets to do this. The lower basket and door can be removed by removing the 1 screw on each side of the rail and then lift the on the door and it will come out.
How do you replace the ice maker?
Answer Hello Dave,
Remove the upper tray in the freezer compartment. Once this is out there are two phillips screws on the side of the lower rails that hold the lower drawer in place. Remove screws and lift out the Drawer. Once this is out you have clear access to get to the screws on the icemaker to remove. The upper screws only have to be unscrewed just a little but the one on the bottom has to be fully removed.
When we use the water spout on the outside of the door....a constant stream of water comes out of the ice maker into the tray and after filling a few cups of water the ice tray has a 4 inch solid block of ice. The ice maker continues to make ice however the cubes just become part of the ice block. Any suggestions?
Answer Brian, The place to start is the water supply line(pressure to high or low) and the water system fill valve,(a solenoid or diaphram is weak and the pressure fluctuation causes both valves to open and fill at the same time. Without a model number, that would be the most likely situation for your post description. Thanks and Good Luck
I just need the plug on ice macker. Can I get it without having to order the whole thing?
Answer Hello John! Unfortunately, the manufacture does not offer any parts separate from the icemaker kit 5989JA0002Q. Sorry about that!
