Water is leaking from the icemaker into the ice bin and causing the cubes to freeze into a block of ice. Which part do I need to replace?
The icemaker would be the cause of the unit leaking water into the ice bin. The icemaker 5989JA1005D on the unit is warped and will need to be replaced.
My ice tray is warped and I have ordered a replacement part. What is the best way to exchange it out ? Can it be done without removing the unit? IF not, what disassembly is required ? Thanks for any assistance.
Answer Hello Don,
If you have the complete icemaker all you will need to do is to remove the ice bin, take out the phillips head screw that is holding the icemaker bracket in place and pull icemaker out. Once out disconnect the wire harness. Plug in new icemaker and reinstall.
I want to repair the ice maker because it is not making ice . Does ice maker assembly, part 5989JA1005D have the condenser unit, and it is all I require to repair the Ice maker?
Answer Hello Ken,
The icemakers do not have a condensing unit on it. It uses air movement to freeze the ice and allow the thermistor to get cold enough to cycle. This icemaker 5989JA1005D would be the correct part to use if icemaker is not working.
