LG fridge with a aeq57518201 icemaker that refuses to make ice. Manually initiating a 'harvest' test produces 6 normal sized ice cubes. The metal fill arm has always snagged on the edge of the ice tray if the drawer was not opened just so. I'm wondering the if the mechanism behind the fill arm has given up the ghost. Time for a new ice maker?

Hello, the white plastic part with "teeth" on my ice maker broke off. Thus, when I open the freezer door and pull the tray out, ice falls off the back and onto the floor. Can I purchase the white plastic part separately or do I have to purchase the whole ice maker assembly?

Answer Hello Russ, You would have to replace the entire icemaker assembly AEQ57518201 as the icemaker does not come as separate parts.

Icemaker replacement part AP4457302 looks nothing like my icemaker. We are having a problem with "damming" the fill spout does not empty all the way and water freezes in it, backs up and is slowly flooding my kitchen. We defrosted it enough to get the chunk of ice out but overnight it has dammed up again.

Answer Hello Wendy. Check and make sure the freezer is around 0°. If to cold, it will cause this issue. If it is good, replace the water valve 5220JB2010A on the unit.

I left Ice Maker on and didn't have water flowing to refrigerator. I realized it two weeks later. I turned water valve on. Refrigerator does not make ice. Not getting water in ice maker. What part do I need to replace?

Recently replaced the ice maker assembly with kit AEQ57518201 and still no ice! Is this the solenoid problem? What part # would I use to order this and is there a test I can do to see if THAT is the problem?? Thanks!!

Answer Vicki, To test the icemaker you'll need to press and hold the Fill Key for 3 seconds. The ice maker will run through 3 stages: Harvest, Fill, Icemaking. 1. Turning the Icemaker stop switch off (O) stops the ice making function. 2. Setting the Icemaker switch to OFF and then turning it back on will reset the icemaker control. You're on track thogh, the fill valve 5220JB2010A is the more likely issue. Thanks

On my Ice maker, the only thing wrong is the heater on the bottom has holes corroded in it and it quit working, Can I just get a new heater for the ice maker? and does running a water softener cause the alum heatting tube to corrosied? but there isn't any corrosion on the alum ice tray.
