my washer began to smell like something was burning after a wash cycle. then when done the drum filled with smoke. on the next load i got error code LE. does it need a new motor sensor?
Jan L for Model Number wm2016cw
Answer Hello Jan,
The LE indicates a locked motor error. Things you want to check for is the connector 3 pin maile white in the motor harness making sure it is plugged into the female white of the stator assembly. Check the electrical contacts between the connectors 3 pin male white in the motor harness and the 4 pin female white connector in the Main PWB assembly is bad or unstable. The motor harness between stator assembly and main PWb assembly is cut or has open circuit. Last could be the hall sensor is out of order or defective.
The washer does wash but at the end it won't go into the high speed spin. It just keeps rotating in one direction for a few seconds and starts to drain, then rotates the opposite direction for a few seconds. It just keeps doing this and won't stop until it gives the UE fault code. Can this be a bad speed sensor on the stator assembly?

Answer Hello Vincent,
Here is the explaination of the fault code UE:
UE
The washing machine has detected an imbalanced load
This error code is more for information purposes than an actual a fault. What the machine is telling you is that it has been unable to sort the laundry load and correctly balance it without a risk of damage due to an unbalanced load. This error will clear when you restart the machine but you need to sort the laundry or increase the load as required and for more information on load imbalances. If one item is more moisture absorbant than any other item in the load, the unit cannot balance it.
On non-display panel models this fault code is denoted by the lights for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 being lit or flashing.
•Reload the washing machine and attempt to spin it again.
•Check the installation of the washing machine for level and balanced.
•Check for small loads because small loads will cause an imbalance error.
After loading the washer and starting a wash cycle, it will lock the front door and (normally) the washer will briefly spin the drum, stop, and the cycle will continue from that point. The problem is that the washer does not start spinning the drum at start-up and there is no activity for a minute or two and then shows an LE code. The drum does not spin on its own at all but it can be turned by hand smoothly with almost no resistance. I believe the problem is the sensor. Am I on the right track?

Answer Hello Frank,
This sounds like the drain pump filter is clogged with debris. Some units have a small access door in the front of the unit to clean the filter out through, and some have to have the entire front panel removed to access it. Either way, by unscrewing the sump access counterclockwise, you can clean this filter and continue with your washing. During this time, if you have the unit unplugged, it will reset the control to clear the fault so the unit can run through its' cycle.
What is the sensor (ap4457567)for on stator assy?
Larry for Model Number wm1814cw LG front loader
Answer Hello Larry. This is the speed sensor. It reads the speed of the motor. Hope this helps.
