Frost and ice build up in the freezer. Ice melted in the ice bin. upper portion warm and lower portion bin cold.
Removed the panel. cleaned most of the ice. kept the equipment unplugged for two days till all the ice melted and the evaporator coils fully dry and cleaned.
Restarted and it worked normal for about 10 days. The problem reappeared. The inside left panel on the refrigerator side was found warm.
Answer Hello Ram. It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the evaporator coils in the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
Both old and newly bought defrost heater (Da47-00094C) had 4.39 KOhms readings. These readings seems to conflict to earlier answers. Any ideas why?
Answer Hello Bob. DA47-00094C is not a defrost heater. It is the water tank heater. It is testing good. The readings are based on temperature being tested. The only way to replace the heater is replace the evaporator coils DA96-00020Q.
I am looking for the type of heater used in garage refrigerators to keep them from freezing in the winter.
Answer Hello Donald! Unfortunately, the Whirlpool does not offer a refrigerator garage heater kit. Sorry about that!
My equipment cool inside but the frame around the doors are hot all the time.
Answer Hello Alba. Make sure the condenser coils are clean and the condenser fan motor is good on the unit.
18 cft Frigidaire freezer freezing up and fridge not cooling.
Answer Hello Joe,
You will want to check to make sure that the evaporator fan motor is running. IF you have impacted evaporator coils then you will want to check for continuity on the defrost thermostat 5303917954 and defrost heater 3206453. If one shows open then replace. If they both check ok then you will need to replaced defrost timer 215846602.
