Ice dispenser inop, unit makes ice no problem, but the auger motor doesn't work. The flap in the door opens, but no ice. Water dispenser works. Suggestions?
Answer Hello Bobodaclown,
The first thing you need to try is to empty the ice bin into a bowl and clear any small ice particles from the bottom of the bin. This can be done quickly and easily with hot water in the sink. Put the ice bin back in and see if the auger turns. This can be done by holding the door switch closed with the door open. If this doesn't do it you can try heating the auger motor with a hair dryer for about 15 minutes. If this corrects the issue you will need to set the freezer temperature one number warmer and check for an air leak around the door seals or the ice door. If you could provide a valid e-mail address we can send you some troubleshooting information with illustration to aid in your repair.
My frig. and freezer both stopped working. All of the control panel buttons seem to be working, but they are not cooling at all. What do you think my problem is? I'm guessing the main control board on the rear of the unit.
With both the refrigerator and freezer section not cooling you will want to check to see if the compressor is starting. If the compressor is not starting then it may just be a bad relay but you will want to check to make sure that there is power getting to the relay. If so then replace the relay.
Where is the unit's main control board located?
Answer Hello James. Remove the back cover off the bottom of the unit. You should see the main board inside a plastic housing back there.
How do I replace the solenoid on the ice maker?
Answer Hello Jen. If your talking about the solenoid DA74-40151G, you will pull ice bin out. Once out there are 2 screws on the bottom of the tray that the ice bin sits. Remove the icemaker. Once out and the screws on the bottom of tray are out, you will pull the tray assembly out with the auger motor and the ice solenoid. Replace solenoid and reinstall.
