My Whirlpool trash compactor is 18 years old. I need a off-on switch part #9871139 that I have not been able to find. Is there another off-on switch that would fit my compactor?

Our trash masher is 15 years old and still works fine except - I removed it to replace the flooring underneath it and when I put it back in the space the foot pedal that you push to get it open is very hard to push down, a lot harder than before it was removed. What might be the problem? Thanks Jim

Is JUST the metal actuator for the door switch available? The switch is O.K. The piece of metal that closes the switch when the door closes broke at the foot mounting.

Is the starter switch replacement kit a direct replacement, i.e. no drilling, cutting, etc. And will this break as fast as the one on our unit?

I need to replace a metal plate that broke that makes contact to turn on and off the compactor. I understand that the part is now called an off - switch actuator. The old part number I think is 9871976. It does not look at all like the picture you show. Is this a replacement of a simple metal plate that looks like a door striker? I need help. I can not see paying this much money for a plate. I do not need a kit. I am not sure a kit will fit. It is help together by two screws. the size is 1/2" X 2". Thanks

Thanks for previous answer on flange for stasrter switch, however there is no way the flange in that new starter kit for $25 is even close to the old one which is simply a 2.5" piece of metal with a 90 degree angle in an area large enough for two small screws to go. Where can I get this rather simple design that has worked on mine for 10 years????
