I have a 1986 LA5550XPW3 washer. It mostly works great. Problem is that top agitator (part WPL63753) sometimes comes off the lower agitator during the spinning cycle (when I'm washing a heavy load). Question: How does the top agitator connect to the lower one? I just bought a brand new top agitator, but there is no intuitive mechanism that will link both together. I also bought part WPL358237, but the screw head is much smaller than the opening in the inner cap midway along the upper agitator. Am I supposed to just let the tower of the lower agitator slide inside the bottom end of the top agitator and just press them together until the top of the tower touches the inner midway cap? The diagram on the website does not show any additional parts to help this connection. Thanks for the advise.

Answer Hello Gus. Based on the information you provided, you will need to order the bottom of the agitator 387838. The top snaps onto the bottom. Hope this helps.

I have an older Whirlpool model washer. The agitator has recently started lifting up and hitting top load door when spinning. Appears that the mesh netting inside bottom that seems to hold it to the shaft is almost gone. What is this called or do I have to replace the whole agitator?

The agitator wont spin once it fills up with water.pulled off the agitator. the coupling that it sits on is spining back and forth.Is that coupling suppose to free spin?

How do I remove and replace the agitator. I want to remove string like items that are wrapping around the agitator shaft.

Answer Hello A.W.S. Remove the cap off the top of the agitator [AP3842462. Then remove the blot in the center of the agitator. Once the bolt is removed, the agitator lifts upward and off of the shaft. Hope this helps.

Agitator , top part came off. Plastic sleeve seperates from bottom of agitator. I can put it back on but it comes off, so i guess either the plastic/teflon sleeve is damaged or who knows. The picture of the agitator that I called up using Estate parts is not like the agitator on my washer. My washer is about 2 years old, was not that expensive and may have been a discontinued model. I haven't looked for the book and the dealer here in town is closed for a while because the owner is in the hospital. How can I see a picture of all Estate agitators? Thanks. BT

Washer will spin but wont agitate. I put a new coupling in and it still wont agitate. What do I need to do now?

Answer Hello Debbie. If the motor runs, but the agitator does not agitate, you will need to check and see if the dogs are bad inside the agitator. Turn the agitator by and and see if it moves back and forward. If so, you will need to replace the cam kit. Hope this helps.
