My washer is not agitating. I have replaced Dogits and Washer: part numbers 80040 and 285587. I put a small load in and it fills with water, makes noise but does not agitate. Is there another easy fix?

Okay - I removed the dust cap again and tried moving the agitator counter clockwise. I did this several times, and never did all 4 dog agits engage - i.e. "come out of hiding" and engage the ratchet mechanism. In fact sometimes I was able to avoid any of them coming out depending on how I turned it. Two questions: Do I need the whole agitator kit or can I just purchase the agitator dogs (Part AP3119063)? Why, if the dogs are not operating properly, would the machine agitate okay with no clothes, just water inside? Thanks

I'm so sorry, but I am confused by your response. When a load is the machine, my agitator moves clockwise, just as it has always done. Earlier today, when I filled the machine to the smallest load size and didn't add any clothes, it agitated just fine. The agitator does not move counter clockwise- I had understood from Q and A's that if the agitator moves freely in both directions, there is a problem with the cam kit/dog agits. I don't have that problem. I cannot, though, see the dog agits engaging the ratchet mechanism. Should that be visible on my machine when just moving the agitator by hand?

Why would the agitator work fine with a small" load" of just water? Also, I read some of the Q and A on the cam kit you recommended and there was mention of there being a need to replace it if the agitator can be turned in both directions. Mine does not really move counter clockwise. (It only turns a little bit in that direction after I have moved it clockwise for a rotation or two.) Is it possible that I do not actually have a problem or not this particular problem?

Hi. Lately (last several loads) it appears as if the agitator has had to "work harder" at some points while agitating to agitate well. Today, I noticed the top of the agitator moving very slowly during the rinse cycle. The load was quite full but not fuller than it has ever been. After the load finished, I just did a small, empty of clothes, load to see if how the agitation was, and it agitated fine. After it drained out, I removed the dust cap to expose the agitator bolt. I don't have the correct tools to loosen it (I would have to borrow them) so I cannot see if the dogs are worn down. However, is it a sign that something is wrong if, when I move the agitator by hand, I don't see the edges of the dogs sticking out and engaging with the outer edge of the agitator? Also, does it mean that the dogs are not my problem since with a machine just partly filled with water, it agitated fine, or does that prove nothing? Thanks so much
