Water is leaking from the bottom of the tub. Is there a special tool for removing the agitator? I'm assuming a bearing or a seal has gone bad.
Randall N. for Model Number Lat 9314 aa e
Answer Hello Randall,
There is a hidden screw in the side of the agitator. It has a 1/4 inch hex head. It doesn't have to be removed, only loosened. This will allow you to easily lift the agitator out of the unit. To correct the leak, the outer tub seal 6-2095720 and tub bearing 6-2040130 need to be replaced.
Maytag a9700 motor runs but agitater doesn't agitate. I'm smelling like something is burning. What can cause this?
Victor for Model Number A9700
Answer Hi Victor. Remove power. Remove the front panel. Lift the unit up and support it. You are probably smelling the belts burning part # 12112425. Remove the belts and rotate the pump part # 6-2022030, motor part # 12002353. and the main pulley. The main pulley will rotate and click one way. The opposite way it will compress a brake spring to lift the brake pads so the unit can spin. Thank You.
I have a maytag washing machine and I thought it was the belt cause it was making a loud noise and smelt like a burning belt. So I replaced the belts and it still makes noise and smells real bad and its not rotating when it is running but you can hear the motor and the agitator moves with the drum. Can you please help me?
Rebecca for Model Number a9700s
Answer Hi Rebecca. Remove power. Tilt the unit and support it on its back. Remove the belts. Rotate the pump and motor in both directions to see if they spin freely in both directions. Rotate the main trans. pulley (clockwise) and it should rotate the agitator back and forth. The opposite way (counterclockwise) should lift the brake rotor off the stator and spin the inner tub assy. freely. You can also lift the top and unclip the top tub ring. Use a flashlight to look down inside the tub and see if there is a balled up piece of clothing stopping the tub spin out. Remove a side 1/4 " bolt from the agitator, lift out and see if there are clothing bunched there possibly. Let us know what part you might need. Thank You.
My washer started making a noise when agitating. I replaced the agitator, still makes noise. However, does not make noise when agitator is removed.

Answer Hello Roy. Check and see if the agitator has marks on the bottom of it where it is rubbing the tub. If so, you have a bad transmission. Hope this helps.
