I did not find the felt glued to tumbler back. It was held in place by clips. Is the lack of continuous felt seal the cause of the screeching noise?
Answer Hello Joey,
The felt can be the source of the noise but it is most probably the cause, even if the noise isn't coming from the area where it is missing. You see, the lint, heat, and moisture are directed out of the unit and if the felt seal is missing, the heat, lint, and moisture will just blow through the are where it's missing and be recirculated across the clothes again and again. This will cause an excessively long dry time, a high electric bill, and most distressing, premature failure of the mechanical and electrical parts within the unit.
Dryer drum felt seal - Used on both the front and rear side of the dryer drum. Item Number: 33001807. For adhesive order Y055980.

all of sudden the dryer stopped and wouldn't start again
Answer Renu, First check and make sure there is 220/240 VAC at the terminal block onm the back of the dryer. Check the door switch for a click when you press in and release the switch plunger in the door opening. Then you will want to remove the front of the dryer and check the thermal fuse(s) for a closed circuit 307473 and 33001762 If either fuse is "open" the dryer won't start or run. This couls also be due to and overheat situation., Check the vent and vent hood for clogs or restrictions, if that's the case. Good Luck and Thanks
