I opened the back panel of my freezer to get to the bimetl-def, which I have located, but my problem is that one of the bimetl-def (Brown)wire is connected to another wire (which leads to something else),crimped onto a wire connector with a male pin on the other end. I would have to cut both wires to disconnect the bimetl-def from the wire connector in order to change it out. My question is, I can't find the wire connector (with the male pin on the end which is inserted into a harnest), to fasten both wires.

Our refrigerator was running fine then just shut down. Could not hear anything from it. Started warming up and never came back on. However when you opened the doors the lights came on so there was power. Could this be the defrost thermostat? We have dials at the top for temperature control in freezer and fresh food compartment. Any help would be great. Thank You

Items in Freezer keep getting frost on them. I also have ice on the bottom of the freezer floor (inside) side-by-side unit. I was able to remove the ice and unplug the drain and the problem continues. Everything else seems to be working fine. Could this be a Defrost Thermostat issue?

My Refrigerator does not cool nor does the freezer. I can hear the unit running. The coils are clean. Where can I start checking for the problem? It is a nice unit. I hate to dispose of it.

I have a Kenmore side by side. I used to hear the dripping of the defrost cycle, before I knew what it was and wondered why it was dripping. I know now why, it was defrosting. Well now the freezer won't defrost. The freezer gets really cold, so much there is a cryogenic cloud that comes out when you open the door. There is also a build up of frost and ice forming in the drip pan which is getting backed up and more ice is forming on the bottom of freezer. I tested the resistance of the heater and it's good. the fan works, and the fridge works well until alot of ice forms. My next course of action will be to replace the defrost thermostat. Do you think this is the right step to correct the problem? If the defrost thermostat is bad will it prevent the defrost heater from turning on? I'm pretty sure there isn't a defrost timer for this model. thank you.
