I have a kitchen aid Superba Model number KSRS25FGSS11 And the fan in the back middle of freezer is not working and the cold air is not going into the freeze or refer, I have replaced the motor for that fan could it be a thermostat?
Mickey
Answer You will need to test and see if you have power coming to the fan motor. It could be the defrost board, air baffle assembly, or the thermostat causing this problem. You can test the defrost board by seeing if you have power coming from the red wire on it. Then go to the air baffle and see if you have voltage coming out of the red/white wire on it. The thermostat sends power to the defrost board out of the red wire from it and the orange wire from it.

Hi, I keep getting frost buildup in my freezer causing the fresh food side to get warm. I have tested the heating element for continuity and it seems good (no resistance), I have replaced the Bimetl-Def but it is still freezing up, not sure what i should do next? Thanks
Joseph for Model Number Whirlpool ED5GHEXNL02
Answer Hello Joseph,
The defrost heater should show between 21O to 27O. If it showed no resistance, did you mean it is infinite as in no connection? If so, the defrost heater 2323198 has failed. If it is reading properly, the most likely cause of the failure is the adaptive defrost control W10366604. Be aware that when the issue is resolved, the defrost circuit is not designed to remove any more frost and ice than would normally accumulate between defrost cycles. For this reason, a hair dryer should be used to remove any excess ice and frost build-up before putting the unit back into normal operation.
Hello:
Few weeks ago, the feezer had ice build-up. I replaced the Refrigerator Defrost Heater and the feezer worked fine and no more ice build up. Few weeks later, I noticed the refrigerator temp is not cold (milk went bad) and feezer is buiding ice again. I replaced the Refrigerator Thermostat but the did not fix the issue. Should I replace Refrigerator Defrost Thermostat ?
MADDOG1964 for Model Number Kenmore 106.58529700
Answer Hello Maddog1964. It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the back wall of the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
Freezer freezing up and refrigerator not cold changed thermostat should I change the defrost timer next.
Jt for Model Number GS2SHGXLS01
Answer Hello JT, instead of a mechanical timer, your model has an adaptive defrost control board W10366604 that you might check. It's mounted in the control housing. You might also check the defrost heater 2323197 mounted to your evaporator. Hope this helps!

The freezer cold air is not shutting down, things are frosty. At the same time the fridge part is not getting cold. Is this the thermister or the defrost thermostat?
Nanaimowinger for Model Number kitchen aid fridge KSRS27ILBL03
Answer Hello nanaimowinger. Check and make sure all the lights are turning off when the door is closed in the unit. Also, check and see if the flap inside the dispenser assembly is broken. If so, you will need to order the door kit 8201756.

To replace the defrost thermostat, do I have to cut the wires? Is there a way to take the wires out of the harness?
