Just to be clean, a follow up set of question:
Everything on the Whirlpool microwave works except the light. The beeps work for the light button but no light (tried two new bulbs). So by shorting out the light socket I blew out something on the board that sends juice to the light socket??? The only way to have the light work again is by replacing the whole board?
Answer Hello Ted. Yes, that is correct. The board has a relay that sends power to the light when the button is selected. The fuse is not for the light, it is for the whole unit. You will need to replace the control board 8206534. If you remove the outer cover off the unit, you can test the fuse. It is located inside the unit. According to the wiring diagram, the light is tied into the control board. Hope this helps.
The left bulb went out. I bought a new one and it is still out. Could it be a fuse or the receptacle ?
Answer Hi Randy. The left lamp housing socket is part # W10244596. The bulb is part # 8183993. Check the wire connection and make sure you are getting 120 vac to the socket. If not then trace back to the control board and see where you lost the connection. Thank You.
Were is the fuse located on this model?
Answer Hello Marlene. You will need to remove the outer cover off of the microwave to access and replace the fuse. It is located in the inner cavity. Hope this helps.
Is the block-fuse a fuse or is it what holds the fuse? Thank you.
Answer Hello Tammy! The fuse block W10117908 is the fuse holder. The fuse is part number W10422951. Thanks.
