Spins once in a while. I have replaced clutch and I have bypassed lid switch. I noticed brake shoes are greasy. When it spins it spins great. Thanks Joe
Answer Hello Joe. It sounds like the drive tube 285792 may be bad and need to be replaced on the unit. Check and make sure the drive block is not stripped out and if it is good, replace the drive tube.
I have replaced the motor , coupler and the clutch assembly , and as the washer does final spin it doesnt complete the spin out 100 %. As the clothes are not spun tight to the tub wall. I rotate the dial to spin and it then spins out as it should. You had replied that it might be the brake shoes and not the timer swich. Anything to do with the agitator dogs ? Please give me your thoughts.
Answer Russ, The agitator dogs 80040 have nothing to do with the spinning of the tub. The dogs lock and unlock during the agitation cycle, in order to allow the clothes mover (auger) to move the clothes. The brake shoes perform two functions, in agitate they engage the band and hold the spin basket still while the agitator oscillates. When the washer spins, the brake shoes retract, the clutch engages the clutch band and the tub spins or ramps up to full spin speed in approximately 90 seconds. You didn't mention any rumbling, squealing,or squawking noises, that may indicate a bearing issue. So that pretty much leaves the clutch slipping or the brake shoes not disengaging totally. The brakes are spring loaded, and also have rollers, if the springs are weak, or the rollers dirty or sticky, they can get stuck and drag against the band and slow down the spin speed.
The machine shakes and makes a knocking noise when it is on spin cycle. It aggitates fine and I've changed the clutch assembly and it still does this. What else could it be?
Answer Hello Ed,
You should check your suspension springs W10250667 to make sure that one has not come loose or is bad. Also if it checks ok then you would want make sure that there is not damage to the drive block389140.
washer works fine ,but at the end of the spin cycle it sounds like a helicopter noise & shakes the the whole unit.
Answer Tim, It could be an issue in the brake shoes and pads, but check the drive block first 389140 If the interior slots are distorted or damaged, the drive block will continue to spin for several revolutions making a very loud noise. You will need to remove the agitator and the tub locking nut to investigate. Good Luck and Thanks
