Answer Bob, There are two(2) door springs 337186 that attach to the end of the cables 337186 , you will need to remove the filter, remove the screws under the filter, raise the top, and remove the front panel to access them. Thanks
I have an old Kenmore Dryer Model #10086571800 (Heavy Duty Plus)and the door will not shut. What parts would I need to order. I have also noticed there are no cables on either side to hold door. Thanks so much for your help!
Answer Hello Sandra! The door cable used on your unit is part number 230131. Inspect the door hinges, part number 238456 for the right side and 238460 for the left, and the spring 337186. Make sure the strike and catch are in place and not defectivce. If so, the manufacturer offers a door latch kit part number 279570. Hope this helps you, thanks!
How do I remove the dryer front panel? Do I remove the top panel first and if so, how do I do that? Do they just pry open or apart? The old or broken spring should be inside the front panel right?
Answer Hello Gilbert. Make sure the power is disconnected. You will need to remove the lint filter from the unit. Then remove the screws under the lint filter and use a flat blade to release the clips under the top panel of the unit. Raise the top panel and access the door switch. Unplug the door switch and remove the screws securing the front panel. Now you can remove the front panel from the unit.
how to install part no. ap2910972
Answer Edgar, First, you need to remove the front panel and disconnect the door switch wires, and find the spring(s) 337186. You will find a "plastic" door plug on the inside door panel that you will need to carefully remove with a flat bladed tool or small screwdriver. Insert the end of the cable and reinstall the plastic door plug, on the door. Now you need to insert the cable(the end with the pin hole) through the opening of the front panel , slip the end of the spring into the hole of the cable end, stretch the spring and insert it to the holes in the back side of the front panel and re install. Thanks and Good Luck
