HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE AGITATOR TO INSTALL THIS PART?

Answer Hello! You can remove the top dispenser/cap 285975. There will be a bolt down in the center of the agitator. You can remove that bolt and the lift up on the agitator. The whole assembly will pull out when that bolt is removed. Hope this helps!

I ordered a kit to replace the upper agitator dog gears and to remove the unit it shows a screw or bolt holding it down. However with mine it looks like a rivit ...there is not a screw or a bolt to try and remove. Any suggestions?

Answer Bernie, Based on the parts diagram and basic service manual, you do have an agitator bolt 358237 (358237) and the basic instructions state " The surgilator Agitator is removed by first pulling off the agitator cap and inner cap.Then unscrew the 7/16" bolt found under the cap and pull straight up on the two piece agitator assembly. The clutch and clutch dogs that provide the Surgilator action are found in the upper portion of the agitator assembly." Perhaps the bolt is partially coverred with softner or soap residue, or something else.
