On the last spinning cycle, the machine made a loud snap like noise and then began to smell like burning rubber. The machine continued to work but the smell got more intense. What would cause this?

When put into a spin cycle, my washer makes a loud and fast clicking noise, the tub does not spin, and the agitator turns weakly. I recently replaced the motor coupling with the newer metal-reinforced model after finding that the old one had broken, and when I checked the coupling out this time, it was fine. I am hoping this is a bad clutch, but is there any way to tell for sure, and that it's not the transmission that's the problem?

Hi- I have a Whirlpool Washer Model # LSW9700PQ2 that has a problem with the clothes still soaking wet when the spin cycle is finished. Sometimes the spin cycle works and dries the clothes and sometimes it does not. When I turn the drum and restart the spin cycle this usually fixes the problem but lately the clothes are still not as dry as they should be. I think it is either the Drive Block or the the Clutch but not sure which. Should I just replace both to be on the safe side?? Your help is greatly appreciated-Thanks-Scott
