Looking on the internet and troubleshooting I think that possible I need a new lid switch or a new timer for my Maytag washer model SAV3655AWW. As it just stops running when it reaches the last spin cycle that dispenses the softener. However if I open the lid and turn the switch back to the last spin cycle. However some days when I have not wash for a bit the machine will run the first wash AOK and if I do another load it will do every cycle except the final wash which dispenses the softener any.

Washer works through all cycles but only agitates and spins at the medium speed never in normal or high setting. Switch for wash/spin speed checks out OK. I have not checked the motor for 2 speed operation. Timer was replaced in Jan of 2012.

When the washing machine is in normal wash cycle it does not fill or spin, but when it is put into rinse cycle the machine fills with water, spins and drains. Does this sound like the timer needs to be replaced? Thanks.

On the normal cycle it just agitates all the way through unless I manually lift the lid and then it will kick over and spin and drain like normal. I then switched to the wrinkle free cycle and it worked fine for a while now when I use it it will fill and then once it starts to agitate it kicks off. Thoughts

In late November, 2011, we replaced the timer w/ one from Appliancepartspro. Recently, but only sometimes, the washer stops at different points in the wash cycle (it has happened w/ all of the wash cycles), then has to be manually advanced to the point at which it stopped and restarted. Then, it resumes its normal functioning. Thoughts?

Washer skips the spin cycle both between wash and rinse and after rinse but will go ahead and spin if timer is reset.

In the last few wks., we changed out the Water Temp. Switch (your recommendation) and the Timer. We now have problems when first starting a load, the water continues to fill the tub and gets very close to overflowing. We stopped it so that didn't happen. Once we advance it to agitation, then it works fine, including the rinse cycle (which does not overflow). Thoughts?

Hello, my washer is about 6 to 7 yrs. old. It has stopped working on two of the cycles. My daughter without knowing washed some clothes while we were out of town, when we came home the washer was still full of water and the cycle she washed the clothes on was still running about 6 hrs. later. Thanks goodness it didn't flood my house or burn up. The washer was hot to the touch though. It is almost like the timer or something the dial never moves from the set spot except on the wrinkle free cycle and one other, I only wash on those at this time, and there is never a problem then. What does this sound like to you? Also , how difficult for a layman to change out the part? Thanks Penny
