My Whirlpool ED25RF stopped cooling and the freezer wasn't working either. I had someone out and they replaced the cold control. It worked for about a day and then didn't work again, the guy came back out and replaced it again saying the the first one he put in was faulty, now this one isn't working either. I turned up the knob and the vent in the fridge is iced over a little. What could be wrong?

I have a side by side. I noticed the refrigerator temperature about 48 and the freezer items thawing. So I turned the freezer knob colder and turned the refrigerator to the coldest. The freezer definitely got back to freezing and the refrigerator appeared to get colder so I turned down the freezer portion but kept the refrigerator to coldest. However the refrigerator temp stayed the same. The cold return seems to be blowing cold. I turned the refrigerator knob down and back up to see if it would restart the compressor but it did not work. Any ideas. It is 23 years old.

The fridge and freezer work for a period of time, then suddenly they both stop running. If you turn to off or sometimes if you turn back the dials then switch them back to the coldest setting it will start to run again. I unplugged it for a day and it did not help. How do I fix this, and can I do it myself? I am kinda handy and I can have help if needed.

I'm replacing the cold control. I removed the whole assembly to put in the new part, therefore disconnecting two different connectors. One has nine wires, the other, two wires yellow and white through the box top. This second one is what I'm referring this question to. I noticed inside of the control panel there are two identical two-wire connectors. One has two wires, (brown and orange one), the other has three wires, (two whites and a one yellow), using the same kind of two wired connector as the first. There is only one connector coming from through the top of the box. I don't remember which of the two connectors inside of the control panel connects to the permanent mounted one in the box top.

Everything in the refrigerator part is freezing. Tried adjusting the temp up, but no change. I also turned the refrig temp knob to off position and fan continues to run. I also cleaned off the coil but no change. What could the problem be.
