Hello,
The freezer side of my refrigerator is cold and frost up. My fridge side is not cold enough even turn up high. What do I need to check. What parts do I need to change? Thank You
Quang for Model Number MSD2242VES00 maytag refrigerator
Answer Hello Quang. It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the back wall of the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater 2323197 and the defrost thermostat W10225581. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer W10366604. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
Unit runs for a cycle but will not come on without turning the cold control knob.
Rudy R. for Model Number ED22TQXGW00
Answer Hello Rudy. If the cold control has to be tampered with to get the unit to switch on, the contacts are defective inside it and the cold control 2198202 will require replacement. Hope this helps!
Where is thermostat and how do I access it? Instructions?
Jeff for Model Number ED22PEXHT02
Answer Hello Jeff. The thermostat 2198202 is located in the control panel section. You will need to remove the knobs and unsnap the front cover off the control panel. Then remove the screws and lower the control panel to access and replace the thermostat. Make sure the power is disconnected before doing any type of repair on the unit. Hope this helps.
Does the coiled end of the thermostat have to be soldered or connected to anything?
Sue P for Model Number RS652 Westinghouse
Answer Hello Sue. No, the end of the cold control 2198202 goes into a tube or is placed in the control housing. There is nothing that the end attaches to. That is where it reads the temperature of the unit. Hope this helps.
Unit runs for a cycle (produces ice) than warms up and never cools again. Would you look at the thermostat and/or the defrost timer?
Rodger for Model Number Kenmore 10655242400
Answer Hello Rodger. Turn the timer and see if the unit comes on. If not, then the cold control 2198202 is bad and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps.
THE CENTER DIVIDER PANEL ( PANEL WHICH SEPERATES FREEZER FROM REFRIGERATOR) OF MY SIDE BY SIDE IS HOT ( TOO HOT)TO THE TOUCH OF YOUR SKIN. COULD THIS BE THE THERMOSTAT?
Carole H for Model Number E5PHEXRBOO
Answer Carol, No it's not likely a thermostat issue. You will need to unplug the power cord and move the unit out and away from the wall, remove the front kickplate and rear access panel, and remove all the lint and debris that has accumulated on the condenser coils and fan, along with the arae under the refrigerator. Once you've got everything cleaned plug the unit in, turn it on and see if the condenser fan motor W10124096 runs to circulate the air and cool the compressor. If the motor is not running, you'll need to replace it. Good Luck and Thanks
