This fridge has quit making ice. On the on off switch on the right side of fridge is blinking twice the pause then blink twice again. We lost power for a couple of days and the water chamber which feeds the tray froze solid. We took the ice maker out and unfroze the water chamber the feeds the ice tray. Are we needing a new complete ice maker? Thanks

Answer Clara,
Check to see if the light on the right side flashes when you close the flapper, make sure that you do not cover the hole. If it does then you need to replace the emitter control board. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
Ice maker not working, light on on/off switch is flashing.
Jim G for Model Number MSD2550VES00
Answer Jim,
When you close the flapper on the left side of freezer the light should stop flashing and glow solid. If it does not then you have a bad emitter board 4389102 and it would need to be replaced. If the light does glow solid then you will want to pull the icemaker out and check the large gear on the icemaker module which the pins may have broken. If they have then you want to replace the icemaker module W10190935.
What is harvest mode?

Answer Hello P.J. Harvest mode is when the icemaker is cycling and trying to dump the ice and bring in water for a new batch of ice.
Ice Maker not working. What replacement unit should I order?
Robert B for Model Number Kenmore Refrigerator #10653706201
Answer Robert,
The part number for the icemaker is 2198597. Before replacing icemaker you may want to do a few checks to see if the icemaker is the problem. The first check that you want to make is to see if your emitter board is working. The emitter board is the light on the right side of the freezer compartment that controls icemaker. With door open the light should be flashing. If not then push in on the light switch and the flapper on the opposite side to see if it has a single flash pause then single quick flash and continues to do this. If doing this then it means it is in the harvest mode. When freezer door is open if there is no light and not in harvest mode you will want to replace the emitter board 4389102. If the light flashes with door open then push on the flapper. If the light continues to flash then you will need new emitter board as with the flapper closed the light should be solid. If this checks ok then you would want to pull the icemaker out. Pull the front cover off the icemaker and look at the pins in the center of icemaker to see if the pin is broken. If broken then you would want to replace the icemaker module W10190935. If not then check to see if there is ice in the icemaker. If no ice then you want to check the fill tube to make sure that it is not frozen. Also pull the module off to see if there are any burnt terminals. If so then replace the module. If the unit fill tube is frozen then replace the water valve and clear ice from fill tube.
How would I know if it's the water valve rather than the ice maker unit?
