I believe my ice maker is toast and needs to be replaced. When I try and pull part number info from your web site (and others) for my particular model number it always comes back only showing a la carte parts, and not the full assembly. I have run across comments online suggesting the part #2198597 is the full unit that is compatible with my fridge, but before I buy it, I wanted to make sure this is correct. Why doesn't my model show up with the full assembly part number associated with it? Thanks! Steve

The ice maker has stopped making ice on our 8 year old Kitchenaid fridge KSRP25FNSS00. In the past I've had an issue with the water fill tube freezing over and unfroze it with a hair dryer, and couple other times I had to clean the sensors as something was obstructing it. However neither of those seems to be the issue now from what I can tell. The optic sensor appears to be working in that when in the "ON" position the light blinks twice repeatedly, if I close the flap so it can make an optical connection the light goes to a solid red, however water is never filled into the ice tray and nor is there any ice stuck in the ice tray compartment. Basically it's not filling the ice tray with water for some reason. The water dispenser on the door still works, so I believe the water inlet valve is still functioning and have tested the leads for continuity. I have not tried "manually" filling the ice tray compartment to see if that will jump start and thus fix the problem. Is that advisable? I'd prefer to try to fix this myself if possible. What other diagnostics / suggestions can you offer? Thanks very much!

In 2007, the ice maker stopped working. I ordered a replacement from Appliance Parts Pros, installed the new ice maker and it worked fine until about two weeks ago. I ordered and installed another new ice maker from APP, but it never made ice. We turned the refrigerator off, emptied and cleaned to help defrost the line in the event that was the problem. Started it back up and still no ice after several days. I ordered a new water valve and was going to install it today. I checked the resistance of the installed water valve and both are in the 200-400 ohm range. Is it possible that the new ice maker is bad? How do I check it? If the new ice maker is OK, what else could be the problem? The cold water dispenser works fine.
