11 yr old frig has always runs cold with both settings on warmest. Now unit runs almost continuously. Ran electronic control test per service sheet 2214447V. with all green except red indication on step 5 and step 7.
(step 7) Bi-Metal tests open and will be replaced.
(step 5) states " VC compressor OFF, waiting for min off delay"
Please clarify what action to take correct problem in Step 5 after bi-metal is replaced?
With the compressor running all the time you will want to check to see if the unit has frost on the rear wall of the freezer or if the evaporator coils in the freezer behind the wall are impacted with ice. It sounds like there may be a defrost issue that is causing the unit to not operate properly. If there is impacted coils then you will want to do a continuity test on the defrost heater and defrost thermostat. If either read no continuity then that is the issue and would need be replaced. If both show continuity then the control board would need to be replaced.
My water tray under the refrigerator it's crack and water makes contact with the compressor , will this cause for the power breaker to jump?
The drip tray is made out of plastic and would have no bearing on the unit tripping the breaker unless there is a wire exposed and sitting in water. Normally a tripped breaker, if happens more than once, will be caused by a short to ground or over amperage draw on the compressor.
