I have a question on wiring up the compressor relay/overloadswitch I received. I have a red wire and a white wire. Can you advise me which terminals to connect these wires to.
Answer Hello Roger,
The wiring should be as such, red wire goes to the white overload and the white wire to the relay. If there are 2 terminals on the relay put the white wire on the right side as you look at it as it is to be installed.
I moved this unit to a new location 4 miles away. When I plugged it in in the garage, it tripped the GFI and won't start. The power cord is not damaged. Why won't the unit run?
Answer Hello John,
It is not recommended to plug unit into a GFCI. Try plugging into an outlet that is not GFCI and see if it operates. If not then you will want to do an amp draw on the red wire that goes to start relay. Amp draw should be no higher than 8.5amps. If you are drawing higher than that then your compressor would be causing the overload.
Had to replace comp. start device (WPL 8201786) - fried - and now filter light flashing on and off (hear defrost cntrl bd). Note condenser fan turned on prior to replacement and had airflow in frig. Examined defrost cntrl bd - looked fine - and replaced only comp. start relay. Any ideas - replace defrost cntrl bd? Thanks
Answer Steve, if you have attempted to reset the water filter system (Style 1: Press the light switch 5 times within 10 seconds. The status light
will change from red to green. Style 2 : Press and hold the water filter reset button until the status light turns green. Your reset button may be located on the water dispenser or on the control panel in the refrigerator compartment." Then yes, you will need to replace the control board W10366604. Thanks
My refrigerator is not cooling. I get a click, hum, click near the compressor. From reading here, it sounds like it may be one of these parts. Can you please tell me the difference between Compressor starting device - AP3083556 and Compressor starting device kit - AP3885081. I talke to the sale chat, but they couldn't tell me which one I would need and suggested I ask here.
Answer John, It does sound like a start device issue. Either start device will work on your unit, but your best bet would probably be the 4387835 . The 8201786 would require you to "e tip"and reposition wires. it was originally designed as a replacement device for a replacement compressor, and you should verify the compressor motor windings are correct and have proper resistances. Thanks and Good Luck
Is this starting relay will work for a sub-zero compressor refrigerator? What caused the starting relay to brake?
Answer Hello Bohdan. Sorry, but we do not offer parts for Sub Zero and have no way of knowing if this starting device 4387835 will work on the unit.
I am putting this overload kit on fridge, but do not recall where the small plastic "V" piece goes. Any direction or photos available?
Answer Hello. The plastic v part is not used on all models and is only used to secure the cover onto the side of the compressor. It does not affect the compressor operation.
